Hi folks,
It looks like the Lyme community has again come
through in a really wonderful way!!

Donations to the Dr. Jones Legal Defense Fund have
really picked up in the last month!

Although predictions of costs involved in defense can
only be estimates until the case actually plays itself
out, it looks like we are in really good shape
financially.

The attorneys will then assess all the expenses
involved and let us know if more money is needed.
Judging by the spirit of the Lyme community, I know
that if more is needed, you will again step up to the
plate.

But we are cautiously optimistic that we might all
have actually done it, so we can now relax our fund
raising efforts until further notice.

The Lyme community has again come through to help a
physician who has helped us and to fight for the
rights of all Lyme patients. The upsurge in donations
once people heard that the fund was in real trouble is
nothing short of thrilling. .

Thank you so much to all of you who have worked on
this and donated to the fund. You are wonderful!
Ellen

Ellen, thanks so much for the update.

I'm sure a lot of people felt, as I did, that the wee small drop-in-the-bucket mite that I contributed was essentially useless. I'm so very relieved to hear that it all added up to something.

I really appreciate the clarity and tone of your updates, and your inspiring dedication.

LOL! The first draft of the post I wrote talked aobut snging an dancing because this was such good, unexpected news.

But I didn't want to prematurely build up hope that we were definitely finished with fundriasing - just that we could take a break and reorganize if more money was needed.

But I was just reminded that some fundraisers have been planned and will still take place, so they would probably be able to provide a cushion if we do run short on funds.

So now I might do a small dance. BUt whether or not we will need to fund raise a bit later on, I'm still overwhelmed by how much people have pitched in to overcome this hurdle.

Yes, thank you for this!

I'm with the poster who said I felt like my drop in the bucket donation was too small to be valuable -- but it sounds like enough of us sent in what we could.

That is something enlightening for us! If we all send in what we can, it DOES help! [Smile]

Thanks again. I'm especially glad that he knows how many patients care.

I'm dancing because things look better, as compared to how bleak the funding issue looked weeks ago... but by no means is it "over".

There are some important fundraisers coming up which will raise awareness, and no doubt the legal fees will continue to accumulate.

This is a true David and Goliath situation. Those in power have deep pockets. It's up to this community to maintain support for the children by insuring Doc J has the best legal defence in play throughout.

IMO we ought to continue to raise awareness on the issue and direct folks to the legal defence website, and at the same time be prepared ahead of time with lists to contact when we need another big funding push.

There are enough of us -- so that if we each do our part (whether it be forking over as much dough as we can -- and/or asking others to),
we are fully capable of adequately supporting this cause for the children.

Whoops. I apparently got a little carried away with this post. We can't afford to take a rest in fundraising even for a minute, because there can be so many expenses coming up in the case, Could take more hearings. Could wind up needing a court appeal later on. Could be unexpected court costs.

So please check out my update of 7/27. We need to get back to fundraising right away. But , at least we now know how effective we can be when we really work hard.
Thanks,
Ellen
