Maybe Scott Forsgren posted this previously and I missed it. This is a very good summary of the theory behind the book.
I was really impressed until I got to the comments regarding how easy coinfections are to treat. Nevertheless, this document provides valuable insight into the mechanisms of Lyme treatment with herbs.
I am a little unclear if the goal is to drive the bb into cystic form or to simply starve out the bacteria.

Hi Scott, Very good read and interesting. I am taking herbals too, and do not mean to bash this, but I like to see answers to questions I've encountered along the way in my studies, or problems from my experiences.
I am dismayed he did not mention in the contra-indication section that Andrographis can raise already high blood pressure. For me, it also made my TH2 dominance far worse, and caused a reaction that almost sent me to the ER. This aggravation of Th2 dominance is his reason given for not using Astragalus in late disease, and it is a good reason, but Andrographis did the same to me. Cat's Claw should modulate immunity all by itself. That is it's main function, or at least it is for the liquid, TOA free form.
I have also read that Resveratrol in tablet form cannot be absorbed and is useless. I wish he had addressed this and refuted it. Contradictory articles are so confusing, and it would have been nice to hear an explanation from an expert.
I also would have liked to see the study proving that the TOA's are needed and are not really inhibiting the effectiveness. All of the considerable research I've read goes the other way.

Don't know if you have the Healing Lyme book or not. The book lists 61 journal articles etc dealing with Cat's Claw. I have only looked up a couple of them. The main point regarding the TOA controversy in the book is that 2 of the original study authors (there has only been the one in vitro study using TOA free herb reported in 5 different articles) hold the patent on the process for removing TOA's.
As for the Resveratrol -- based on hubby's experiences I do know that the tablets can be absorbed.

Is there a difference?
Is there any evidence that a spirochete or an L-form Bb has even been "killed" from lack of nutrients in vivo?
From what I gather, if they don't have a good supply of the food they need, they simply revert to cyst form, just as they do when they encounter abx or Samento or other environmental hazards.
Buhner indicates that the cysts can remain viable for 2.5 years, so.......

I believe the tablets can be absorbed as well. I believe he specifically mentioned Source Naturals brand at one point, though don't recall for certain. The audio CDs are available from Tree Farm Communications if interested in further review. They are just highlights, not the full details as noted in the book itself.
