My experience that eventually its hard on the body to take day in and day out.
After awhile its hard on your adrenals.

All stimulants can catch up with you eventually.

It is handy though when you have an evening engagement or something special that you need to be alert for, just not everyday.

I don't have CFS.

I tried Adderall and Provigil before, but I was still feeling tired during the day.

Then I started seeing my current neurologist, and he switched me to Ritalin LA 20 mg.

I have been taking Ritalin for over 2 years, and it has worked well for me.

I had a similar experience as jarjar. Our bodies are already tired and depleated and gearing them up with stimulants is akin to taking money out of the bank account that is low in funds without depositing any more. Not a wise choice in the long run.

In my case I took a antidepressant with stimulating properties. It helped for about 4 months but then I crashed and declined rapidly. The medication made me jittery and anxious more than expected the psychiatric had seen in his other patients, and I tolerated pediatric doses. That was an indication that my adrenals were already weak and being affected.

If you do take a stimulant on any basis, I would advise taking something for adrenal support. There is a post currently in medical about natural adrenal supports.

I couldn't take the Rittler. Made me way too jittery along with Provigil.

I take Adderall and it helps me immensely. I actually keep it on the nightstand and many days have to take it to get myself out of bed. I did reduce the dosage prescribed due to a little anxiety, but find if I break the pill in half, and take the other half an hour or so later it doesn't happen. Many days I only need the one half (15 mg.) I honestly don't know how I'd function without it; but on a good day I don't need it, so I don't see any ill effects.
