New to the website for posting, have been a lurker for a while. Husband has Lyme. Finally, got diagnosed about 15 months ago. There is not alot of LLMD in Louisiana, typical undiagnosed here. Has probably had lyme for 8-10 years.
Facial numbness has gotten worse over the last 6 months. Recently had MRI to make sure nothing else causing by lyme. Test came back negative.
Last evening, Husband had a strange situation happen. Got lightheaded, had numbness begin at top of head and moved down the body, though the arms, chest, legs and feet. When that occured, he had trouble breathing and walking due to numbness. DR at ER (not impressed with ER) said Hyperventation Syndrome caused all these symptoms and the cause is Anxiety. (LLMD has him on Wellbutrin to help with the chemical imbalance that Lyme can cause, Not for depression,) ER dr. automatically goes with anxiety due to Wellbutrin Med. ( I was not happy, they have no clue about Lyme)
Has been on abx for the last 12mths, soon to start IV therapy w/ Rocephin.
Has anyone ever had these symptoms or anything similar happen?
It freaked me out. My husband is not anxiety prone. Is not a complainer, although he feels miserable 80% of the time.
Any feed back would be great.

Angela, WELCOME, and so sorry to read about your hubby & ER bad experience. I haven't been thru this personally so have no knowledge/experience to share but bringing this UP FOR ANSWERS.
May I suggest you go to NIH, Natl. Institute of Health's library, www.medlineplus.org and type in the drug name in med area and in the illness area, the specific problem you are looking into.
They will show stuff in USER-FRIENDLY LANGUAGE that the majority I do understand. They might give you some in-sight plus other lymies' experiences here.
Best wishes to you both. Glad you have come out lurking mode to share/learn more from others. Will send you my PM now with my 12 pages of newbie links which also has TREEPATROL'S NEWBIE LINKS in it.
Did you go there now also to see if tree has something in his many pages of links addressing YOUR hubby's problem? Bettyg Posted by Lymetoo (Member # 743) on :

that hyperventilation stuff is a bunch of crap. This was recently what my friend was told when her numbness progressively worsened, almost overnight from scalp to face to tongue to throat to spine to whole body. She was definitely not hyperventilating. I had this just as you described and one LLMD told me it was from cranial neuritis and possibly myelitis from the Lyme.

If hes not on Magnesium get on it Mg citrate is usually recomended also ComplexB vitamins and dont take them within 2to3hrs of taking any abx that way they wont bind to them.
Cq10 would be another he should add also acidophilis, yogurt plain. No sugars added.
That will help rebuild mylene covering on nerve fibers.I had that couldnt catch breath and also felt like lungs were full get him checked for babeosis if not checked for it at least treat for it & other coinfections.
