Anyone with positive parasite tests -- especially for giardia -- what lab did you use?
Wondering if hubby might have giardia again. General surgeon who did endoscopy and found gastritis, duodentitis, and gastric ulcers says all he needs is a proton pump inhibitor. I told him that something had to cause the G.I. irritation and I don't think excess acid is the underlying cause.
If biopsy tests for Lyme and other coinfections are negative then parasites seems the most likely to me. H.pylori has always been negative in the past and hubby has had gastritis at least 4 or 5 times over the years as seen by endoscopy.
Had treated with carafate for a month prior to endoscopy and the ulcers were a surprise as hubby had thought his stomach was doing better.

I was tested for parasites using Great Smokies - comprehensive diagnostic stool analysis...they found morganella morganni (rare opportunistic infection). This test will not find any tick borne diseases in the gut or candida usually as it is intramural...so you can have candida but none be found in their test. I find it pretty comprehensive tho.
I was also tested for helicobator pylori using a breath test which was negative. I agree with your theory on the excess acid...it's bound to be down to dysbiosis and treating the infections should help.

I also have gone through Great Smokies . .and they only found Blastosystis Hominis. I did do the Complete Diagnostic.
I then went through Diagnos-Techs and they found all kinds of stuff.I did the " EXPLANDED GI PANEL."
It showed that I have Candida, Blastosystis Hominis, Alpha Hemolytic Streptoccus,(bacterial), Corynebacterium species (bacterial), Crypotosporidium, Toxmoplasma.
It also did- milk, soy, egg, and gluten testing. All of which I am allergic too.
I purged right before the test to get a better mix of stuff in those tubes. I was told that was best to do.
I thought this test was much better.
Does anyone have any ideas how to get rid of all this stuff? I am so completely lost? Thanks heather

I used the Diagnos-Techs expanded panel also. They are in Tukwila, WA, phone 425-251-0596/
They have several panels; I had the one under GI Health (see "doctors info" in this section. This required saliva plus stool specimens.
I had negative on giardia. The toxoplasma SIgA was positive, indicating a residual titer, recent, or past infection, so it was then followed up with direct testing in blood, which was negative for IgM,IgG.
The same occurred with entoemoeba/ameba histolytica, i.e. postive but further blood tests showed negative.
Cryptosporidium antigens were detected, but the osteopath I was seeing for this said there were no good drugs or herbals for this, and just needed to boost immune system.
There were some other things, but she said I was too sick to treat........huh? However, there were many indicators for colonic inflammation (food sensitivies, reduced enzymes, etc), so maybe the drugs would have been an extra burden.
Then, she said she thought I did not have "lymes" (by looking at me?) and wanted to run a labcorp test.
She recommended some supplements, which I purchased from her, but they gave me a stomach ache, so I discontinued those
I did not return, and went to a naturopath, and now am seeing an alternative llmd, in addition to regular llmd (who does not venture into this area).

I had negative tests from every parasite lab imaginable until I did one recently from a doctor in New Mexico that has a doctor from Nigeria that comes to the US 2-3 times per year. Unfortunately, not again untl January. The test showed Giardia and Strongyloides. First time in years that a parasite test done via stool showed anything at all....

Have you ever thought about taking a stool sample to a vet for an analysis? Vets specialize in this much more so than people doctors. That's what I did, and we found toxo and tape worm. Once I treated both, did some better.
If you do not know a vet well enough to approach, why not taking a sample in and saying it is from your pet. Then when you get the results, ask the vet to put it in writing so you can take it to a doc for review.
Another idea, ask a vet you do not know to do an analysis on a sample and tell him/her that you are worried about your doc/cat and think your regular vet may have missed parasites. And want oa second analyisis to make sure something isn't being missed. This is relatively inexpensive compared to these speciality labs who do this sort of thing.

ConnieMC, I think that is a great idea. Has anyone here actually tried it? Do vets send it off somewhere to be tested? Would love to hear if anyone has tried this.

Be sure to take that seriously. I didn't and delayed my recovery. The gluten thing is to be taken more seriously than the milk, soy, and egg.
How to get rid of the rest? Got a good LLMD? or gastroenterologist?

A vet in my area is absolutely convinced that parasites are a huge contributor to human health problems and is doing some research on his own. He will examine anyones "poop" for about $20.
Vets nearly always diagnose parasites by doing a microscopic analysis of poop samples. I was found to have both toxo and tape worm and went through treatment for both thanks to my very progressive PCP. My PCP was fascinated with all of it and actually met with the vet several times and learned to do her own poop analysis. All they do is look at it under the microscope.
Now my PCP is doing this with many of her chronically ill patients and has said it has been "eye opening". She has found lots of strange things.
Food for thought. I have heard some of these labs arent that accurate. For $20, not much to lose.
If anyone does this, let us know how it goes and what you find.

Hubby has been tested by Great Smokies probably 4 or 5 times in the last 6 or 7 years and never found any parasites.
Was tested in Florida by the Nigerian lab Scott mentioned -- a couple of thousand dollars in Nigerian herbs got rid of the giardia, ascaris and another parasite in 3 weeks 5 years ago. PCP at the time said hubby was on the strongest doses of herbs any of his patients had ever been on. Unfortunately don't have access to this lab anymore.
Hubby has an appointment Thursday with a new PCP (hopefully) closer to home -- only 1 1/2 hours away. May ask him about the DiagnosTech lab or try the vet as Connie suggested.
