Hey guys I am having alot of gas in my chest burping constantly with some chest pain and pressure.Started Zith IV with my clinda last Friday it started with the second dose.

No problems with the primaxin/clinda so I am thinking it is the zith. I have taken Gas ex and other Acid reducers but still burping.

Anybody else have this and if so did you find some help? Thanks for your input.
Take care,
mimi

Yes Mimi,

I have had bouts of excessive gas on occasion with certain meds...

Interestingly enough...Trimox(amoxicillin) and Biaxin(clarithromycin>>>clyndomycin) are the two abx's in Pevpac...for H-Pylori...

H-Pylori has also shown up as crossreference with lyme disease...

Some kinda symbiotic relationship going on here......
Could be zith although I don't recall the gas with this med...will be taking it again with alinia at end of month and will try to remember this post and get back to you......

Yeast?

Dont know anything about zith.

I did burb non stop for long periods of time. Used to be told, 'drink water' bull, doesnt do a thing.

Experimnet and see what works for YOU. For me that is chewing gum or eatting sunflowers, whammo, cures it where all the antacids in the world woulndnt help. Even (4) acifex a day wouldnt help. Chewing does!!! anything, try it!!Go figure!!

One guy says he sucks on a round rock that is alot like sucking on an all day sucker. Might be 'hard' on the teeth if you bite down. I tried that and could NOT get it to work for me, I need more chewing action. Seems to turn on some pumps or turn others off, cant figure that one out. Seeing or smelling good food cooking sure turns on the burps tho!!

Hope this helps somehow!! because it came from --just don-- based on his experience and history

Hi mim

I was on many abx that made me burp and gave me gas. Even puked a few times on IV. Not sure if it was the abx or herx or the the die off of good flora. Hard to say.

Yeast?

I would ask about trying an antifungal .

Are you on a yeast diet?

I would tank up on the pro-biotics.

For over the counter gas meds I like extra strength phazime (sp?) over the gas-X

Are you on any orals that could be causing stomach upset, like probenicid? Plaquinl?

Right now my stomach is trashed x 5 months & even water can make me burp/nausea.

Re: the chest pains. If you think this may not be related to gas I would ask your LLMD about this. Specially since you have a pic line in.

I hope you can feel bettter soon [group hug]

p.s. becareful with the PPI's while on abx/IV. I read an article that people are 3 times as likely to contract C-diff while on acid reducers.

make sure to talk over everything first with your lLMD

I have loads of GI problems. I cant even take any antibiotics because of it at all. Not sure how I am going to fight the Lyme anymore.

Talk to your dr about it. However I am like 5dana--please,please, please try to avoid proton pump inhibitors (like prilosec) if at all possible. It can cause a ton of other stomach problems

I don't know if I've tried this while on ABX or not.

I've always found that the best thing for me for problems with stomach acid seems to be a shot of apple cider vinegar. It sounded really strange to me, but works great. I follow immediately with water as I don't like the taste.

I use Culturelle Lactobacillus(sp?)GG for gas problems.

I find Red Tea (Roiboos) helps calm GI distress and is soothing to drink. I don't know what it will do for burps but I don't think it can hurt.

If you try any of this and it works, please let me know in case I get "the burps". Thanks!

Good luck.

I went back & re-read your post and I agree that
it probably would be a good idea to talk to Dr.

Sometimes heart problems go undiagnosed in women because we blame them on gas, indigestion, etc.

I hope you feel better.
