I will be seeing my LLMD the end of the month. But, in the meantime am trying to understand what went wrong.

Sunday, I was really shaking and couldn't get comfortable. The whole body was hurting more than usual.

I also had a fever.

I assumed it was possibly an infection in my PIC line.

CAlled my parents to come get me so I could stay at their house while I waited out another strange lyme symptom.

Instead my dad drove me straight to the emergency room. I was pretty out of it so didn't have much say about the matter.

I was admitted to the hospital and stayed for 3 days. Slept around the clock. PIC line was taken out.

Given IV abx around the clock.

Temp went down.

Feeling more human now.

Told there was nothing on the culture for the PIC line.

Will see local doctor Monday or Tuesday who is not lyme literate.

IT was good to have the rest and to be able to finally sleep.

But, I would like to avoid that symptom ever happening again. Just wondering what was going on.

I use to have it happen when this first hit and I was still looking for answers. I thought it was due to over doing it at the time.

Yes. I had over done it again. I also had started pool therapy and the pic line had gotten soaked.

PT personnel had wrapped it in syran wrap and tapped it before I got in the pool They said they had done this in the past without any problems.

My white cell blood count was low for the 3rd testing in a row. It was down to 2.

Local doc put me on an abx holiday and will be contacting or did contact my LLMD.

I had the chills/shakes twice the first night while in the hospital too but not as bad and short lived.

Nurse put warm blankets one me which did the trick.

The first time I had the chills/shakes my hands and feet turned ice cold.

Thinking was pretty much gone too.

After I threw up at hospital, I was fine.

Sound familar to anyone?

Do you have Babesia? These sound like Babs symptoms.

I get this, but I am not yet being treated, waiting for LLMD consult.

Was your bp normal? Mine often drops really really low when this happens.

I don't know what shock is supposed to feel like, but I imagine this comes pretty close.

I get this most often at night with hormone changes.

I agree....Babs?

Hope you continue to feel better!

Sounds like Babesia to me. You probably threw up because elevated bilirubin from the dying red blood cells overwhelmed the gallbladder/liver.

If the white blood count was that low it probably allowed the babesia to get out of control as it was not being attacked by the immune system.

Please be sure to discuss this with your LLMD. Babesia can actually be fatal in some cases.

This is not medical advice, just my opinion based on hubby's experiences.

When hubby had the worst babesia symptoms there were a couple of times he had these shaking chills. Took his temp and it went up about 4 or 5 degrees in about 15 minutes.

I dont have a clue of what is ailing you there but sure hope it passes and never comes back, for your sake.

Maybe try treating the babs first, see if that works, then come back for the rest of the lyme soup!!

Hmm. I had noticed that the evening heat waves were beginning again about a week or two before this hit.

I don't know if I have been treated for babs. I get babs and bart confused.

I know I was on mepron for a while over a year ago.

Time to start that list for my lyme doc appointment so I don't forget these things.

Thanks for the ideas.

I, too, just hope it doesn't happen again...it is rather unnerving and makes you wonder when this is all going to end.

Then you hear from someone with worse things to deal with and get things in perspective again.

On a side note: I have got to find a different place to camp out. Sheesh

Yup, you definately need a different place to camp. [Wink]

I'm glad you're home and ok, now. Let's try and keep you that way. I hope it doesn't happen again also. Hang in there and enjoy the med holiday.

It does sound like Babs stuff to me. I get shaking chills and heat waves/sweats/fevers since starting Babs treatment. They seem to come and go. (I have no medical anything just make statements with nothing backing them... so you are forwarned) [Big Grin]

Maybe you killed of enough BBs and it let the babs come to the surface. Pfffft... who knows.

Mepron would have been treatment for Babs, btw.
