is this a feature pretty much of lyme only?

Could be babesia, too, another tick-borne illness. I suppose there are other diseases that can do it, as well.

Body temperature is regulated by hypothalamus, which is located in the base of the brain. Lyme is known to affect the hypoththalamus.
So this could be due to lyme, but also to other infections such as malaria or diseases that involve the hypothalamus.

I have had lyme 10 years ,Dx. in 2002.. my normal since "lyme" temp is about 97.1 if its higher than I have a fever or the sweats etc, Occasionally it will go up to 97.4 etc .. without being feverish..Before Lyme my body temp was avg. 98.6
I do know that is is either higher or lower in the morn than the eve. can't recall which ..way that works

My temp. is consistently low (96 - 97) but sometimes fluctuates between 94.4 to 98.0, although it rarely gets into the 98's. My body just can't seem to regulate it.

have been suffering with this for two years . my temp goes from 96 normal to 103 in 3-5 minutes if i play tennis. after a year of research , i found it was due to lack of adequate sweat from the sweat glands. other symptoms includes very dry eyes and very dry mouth and throat. This is a lyme disease induced Sjorgen's syndrome and is common in chronic lymies. It can also be artificially produced by anti-cholernergic effects of many medicines especially quinine and antideppressants. if you have the other 2 symptoms then you must determine if it is medicine or lyme related. if medicine it can be treated with different meds lyme produced sjorgren's is diffrent and must search sjorgren's to get answers. basically, restasis for eyes , artificial saliva and fluoride to protect teeth and ? for sweat glands. i just keep a wrap from wal mart that you can soak in cold water around my neck to keep the tem down. docdave130

Inability to properly regulate body temp is just one of many symptoms of dysatonomia. I have about everything on the list, I believe! Posted by TerryK (Member # 8552) on :
Temperature regulation is commonly a problem in those with dysautonomia. Dysautonomia - you know- the low blood pressure - orthostatic hypotension etc. etc. is supposedly common in lyme disease. My temp has been running about 97.1 - 98. I often feel like I'm running a fever but when I take my temp it is low, like low 97's, sometimes 98. Terry

Could be babesia/ bartonella, in my opinion too.
I had these changing body temperature before. Then afterwards (after I suppose, babesia/ bartnella got inactive/ dead?), my temperature got only low (no more hot flashes/ feverish feeling, fluctuations) to about 95. That was my 'normal' for many months. I always felt cold.
Now it's 97, normal for me (before lyme that was my normal temperature). I'm pretty thin and had always tendency to have lower body temperature than most people, but no low blood pressure at all (sometimes the opposite!).
But lyme and co-infections made it lower. It was one of the most persitent symptoms for me. I consider 97 pretty normal for me.

Forgot to say thyroid hormones may play role (many lymees have problems).
