Finally received a letter from Dr. J in NC respond

ing to my request that they let me know if I have

Lyme Disease or not or if they don't know. He

stated that although I was not sero-positive,

based on all the clinical information that I did

have Lyme Disease. He further stated that the

reason for the neuro-psych testing before he puts

me on antibiotics was to have a baseline to compare

to when he repeats the testing after treatment.

He wants to have more objective proof of my

impairment and later, progress. Y'all were right

about this being political. With the medical

board supervising his practice it looks like he is

trying to support both his diagnosis and later

patient's progress.

Hi Jimmie, I personally think it's a good deal for you! You'll have the before and after results.

Later if you need to file for SSDI, disability insurance benefits, this work is done and will PROVE to them also WHY in detail you no longer can work. It's THESE RESULTS that get us APPROVED for SSDI! So it's a good thing in my opinion and 5 yrs. of hell to get SSDI. You're a step a head of everyone else now. LOL [Big Grin]

Depends a lot on what exactly is tested and how you feel the day of the tests. Hubby had 4 hours of neuropsych testing and it happened to be a really really good day.

No problems with cognitive issues were found, but the doc did confirm that hubby did not have any psychiatric disorder so the tests were worth it from that perspective for insurance and disability issues.

That was a couple of years ago. He has never been retested -- on a good day the results would probably be the same, but on a bad day he would probably have cognitive defects. A retest for him might actually give worse results even though he has less cognitive issues than in the past.

Many of these tests are very subjective and depend on interpretation of the test administrator.

At least now that you have a diagnosis, you can get started with treatment.

Jimmie,

please contact me before you schedule your neuropsych. There is a good neuropsychologist in Greensboro who knows Lyme. I educated him and he did a good job on my neuropsych.

I sent you an email on Thurs or Fri. Hope you received it. You are welcome to call me early in the week.
