I have had a SPECT as ordered by LLD and it came back with a report that says no abnormalities. I have the Images but need to find someone knowledgeable to read them. There is no Lyme in Tennessee i'm told by over 20 doctors. Can anybody help?

If the report states no abnormalities, it has been read by a radiologist who has reviewed your films for abnormalities. I questioned our LLMD the other day about a SPECT or PET and he was honest and said he wasn't all that familiar with the different high tech imaging techniques. I am not sure what someone else could offer looking at your films. SPECT are very specialized scans and personally I would only trust a highly skilled radiologist to interpret.

my only suggestion would be to call the columbia lyme folks just to speak about the technology. You could ask if any old radiologist could identify lyme abnormalities or if special training is needed by the reading doc. Call the SPECT study number and ask for samamntha....she is very nice and helpful, but doesnt always get back right away.

with SPECT, any sort of reading is probably considered "normal".

it's a good technology, but doctor's aren't quite in the mood to listen to what it tells them.
