Chronic, What are your symptom?
Wellburtin causes a host of side effects. These include jitterness, insomnia, and agitation. I was on Wellbutrin about 10 years ago and did not like how it made me feel. I was always at the edge of my seat, just an uncomfortable feeling. Also pins and needles around my mouth.
How quickly or slowly did you come off the cymbalta. If you come off too fast you can have withdrawal effects which may feel like a herx. Fatigue, depression, apathy, nausea,to name a few.
I would call your doc and discuss the situation with him (or her).
It seems highly, extremely, most unlikely that wellbutrin could direct kill lyme. But I have been wrong before.

My daughter is taking both because her psychiatrist is afraid of causing a major "flare". You can take both because they work on different parts of the brain.
She wants to transfer from Cymbalta to Wellbutrin. So far, being on both is working wonderfully for her, but she wants to ease off as much medication as possible.
If you didn't slooooooowwwwwllly come off Cymbalta, you could be having major withdrawl from it.
I've been on Wellbutrin for six years and love it. But, every medication is different for everyone. Talk to your doctor.

Wellbutrin made me feel like sh**, too. I'm just getting off it. Saw my acupuncturist today and he couldn't not believe how stressed by body was. It was like a living hell for 2 weeks.
LLMD/Psychiatrist sez Wellbutrin (and Levaquin, which I'm also on) lowers GABA levels (or has the equiv effect, I forget). I have a hyperirritable nervous system (restless legs, lyme rage, impatience, exaggerated reflexes) and that is a bad combo with Wellbutrin. The Wellbutrin is too activating.
And the LLMD/Psych also said that Lymies should start these meds really slowly. Said people start with slivers off the lowest dose tablets (of course that won't work for time released meds) or even count grains out of capsules.

Denise I had a horrible Herxe reaction to Levaquin. Lasted for a week. Don't rule out reacting to Levaquin.

I also did not do well with wellbutrin and had panic attack with prozak.
It is written somewhere that whenever folks with lyme try psychotropic medications they should start with the lowest(infantile)doses...because there seems to be a sensativity to these drugs...
In much the same way post polio patients experience...
also...I, as have many lymies, experience both anxiety AND depression...If therefore you are enhancing one or the other, then when the disease gives you the feeling of one or the other...it would be increased...hope that made sense!?
If you're depressed and the meds are designed for depression and your disease shifts you over to anxiety...WHAMMO!....panic city!
and vice versa....got it?
I would concur that there is no way an anti-depressant or ssri would cause a herx...
A herx is only experienced when die off of the spirochete is accomplished.
