Does anybody have this problem??

Almost every night I wake up 2-3 time with one (or sometimes both of) my hands completely numb. If I move for a while (sometimes I have to walk around) and after 5-10 minute it feels better.

I'm still waiting to see a LLMD, so not sure yet if I really have Lyme...

Thanks a lot!

Yep,
Happens all the time...
If you do a search I'm sure you'll find sufficient info for you to read...

Probably either nerve or circulation problem...

Or both......zman

I have this all night every night. I don't know if it's circulation of nerves. I've also had spine surgery on my neck.

If you scroll back thru the last couple of pages, you will see that someone else recently posted this exact question. Can read those replies too.

I hate this!! I've had this exact same problem for about 2 months and started treatment 3 weeks ago.

Problem went away for a bit and then came back (herxing?).

I describe it as if my hands go to sleep at night, some nights worse than others.

Drives me crazy why it is worse at night.

Just my opinion, I think it has to do with Babs.

I have been having a flare of Babs and head and neck pain as well as numbness and tingling in my hands when I wake up.

I do have neck problems as well.

Thanks a lot for your answers! I really think this forum is amazing (I mean, the people in this forum).

It's really helpful getting some support, my husband has been really nice with me (and I know I haven't been nice lately, I have this "anger" that I don't know where it comes from...

I do think I have some co-infections (oh my, I am not sure if I have Lyme and I think I have co-infecctions). I say that because I wake up with a terrible pain on my foot sole...

Anyway... I have on my guts that I don't have a problem in my central nervous system (at least not MS).

THANKS A LOT!!!!!!!! [Big Grin]

RCS2,
That unexplained "anger" you feel inside is a common symptom of TBD infections...We call it Lyme rage...

You may also experience unprovoked crying jags...either rambling speach and thoughts that just won't stop comming....or an inability to transfer words from your brain to your mouth....

Anxiety,depression, manic depression, bi-polar issues...etc...and so on...

Your shrinks will tell you that you're causeing this and the other symptoms as well...evoking Adlerian Inferiority of organ complex or some such nonsense...

What the BF Skinners of the phsych world are unable to grasp is...

Infection of the brain and CNS Causes Pshychological manifestations...not the other way around...

Careful......zman

This could be a symptom associated with inceased inflammation of the nerves caused by an infection such as lyme disease, but it could also be just plain carpal tunnel syndrome.

Women often have this same issue as you describe during pregnancy and they call it carpal tunnel.

Do you have other symptoms suggestive of lyme disease?

Hi imanurse,

Yes, I do have a lot of symptoms that could be caused by Lyme or another TBD.

If you are curious this is the first thread I posted in this forum:

http://flash.lymenet.org/scripts/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=1;t=045936

I don't think it's carpal tunnel by itself because of all other symptoms I'm having.

I'm still looking for an answer...

Thank you for your posting [Big Grin]

Take heart my first symptom was numb hands, went through to total body numbness, (guess I hate to do things half butted).

My hands I called club paws, that is how numb they were morning, noon and night. Spirochetes were invading my CNS.

ABX helped the first flare up went away. When the third flare up in 6 weeks hit, I decided to ignore it, cause I was ticked off (pun ha ha).

My leetle boss asked me what was up, I told him my dam hands are numb again, he said go see your doc. I said I don't want too.

Boss asked me why. I said I wanted to indulge in some denial for awhile. like that song from Annie, denial, denial, I love you denial, you keep things a day away.

Well leetle boss was having none of that. I was admonished and exiled to my docs.

I had at least 4 months of 24/7 hand numbness, funny thang is, the only thing it didn't effect was my ability to typo, and I typo fast and it was part of my job. Some days I went to full body numbness, sharing the wealth..

The numbness has receded. I have occasional tinglings in my hands. But other things went down too, like I would be holding a cup and then voila there was cup smashed on the floor. Neva a dull moment with TBRD.

I was finally able to play my musical instruments, which is a passion of mine in March, when finally the hand numbness subsided. Then enter PICC line in arm, no more music.

Maybe I do not play as well as I thought. Perhaps the powers that be found my instrumentals earitating...

Hang in this too shall pass... [group hug]

I had forgotten about that symptom. Had it in the begining and after treatment of about 6 months it did go away.

Most likely is Carpal Tunnel; I have the same thing (both arns go to sleep) due to constant computer mouse movement. After switching hands and getting a tablet it has allowed the imflamation in my wrist to calm down a lot. I have been having this for about a year now and really thought something was seriously wrong with my circulation until I looked up phrases like "arm goes to sleep at night" and was directed to hundreds of pages about CT syndrom. If you do or have done anything repetitive with either hand then it most likely is Carpal Tunnel.

No, I don't do repetitive movements... And this is coming with my "weird symptoms package" I'm having...
