I'm asking b/c my husband ran into someone with lyme today. They said their LLMD recommends diflucan to kill the baby spirochetes. I haven't heard that before.

I looked it up and it looks like a probiotic. So I guess if I'm taking Theralac, it's similar?

Anyone know the difference or similarities?

Thanks!

Unrelated stuff.

Diflucan is an antifungal drug that can kill yeast and might kill Lyme cysts. It also might 'weaken' all stages of Lyme by interfering with the P-450 system that the bugs rely upon. See Schardt protocol.

Theralac is a probiotic product. Good bacteria for the gut.

Unrelated........ (except in that everything IS related, but not necessarily in a practical sense [Wink] )

I asked my doc if I could try 30 days of Diflucan after I read about it helping with Lyme. The results were really good - my brain fog actually cleared up while I was taking it.

Unfortunately, I had major GI upset. I plan to ask to try again, on a lower dosage. [woohoo]

Diflucan kills the yeast. The probiotic basically fills in the gut where the yeast was to rebuild it with the good bacteria that's supposed to be there.

Isn't it great having our own professional retired ER Doc here online since yesterday? Great to get accurate info and in OUR words that our lyme brains can comprehend!

Way to go Jon, bluesdoc! We appreciate your input! Bettyg [Big Grin]

I'm on BOTH of the above!

[Smile] Just a side note. When you take diflucan or any anti-fungal ita a good idea to space your pro-biotics at least 2 hours apart from diflucan- just like an abx
