My LLNP switched me from Bicillin LA and tinadamax to just Levaquin 3 wks ago.

Since then I feel like I'm getting worse and want to go back on Bicillin and Tindamax, but she said to just wait.

I can't stand the increasing fatigue, droopy eyes, foot pain, and muscle and joint aches that I'm experiencing againg that seemed to be almost gone w/Bicillin.

I know she gave me the Levaquin to treat possible Bartonella, although I never tested positive for Bart. But I'm concerned that Levaquin is doing nothing for Borellia and that Bb is starting to flare out of control again.

Does anyone else have any experience w/this?

Thanks for your input.

I am not aware of it having any significant effect on Borrelia.

Not sure if this is a herx.

I was on levaquin only for the bart. From what I understand, it does not treat lyme.

I think that it is somewhat effective against lyme, but it isn't routinely used for it because it doesn't due a great job, and the side effects from Levaquin can be awfull, and it shouldn't be used long term. I understand your concern about possibly regressing, but The Sx's that you are getting now can easily be attributed to the Levaquin. I don't see why you couldn't at least continue with Bicillin while taking Levaquin? Does doc say no?

Maybe she could use rifampin with zithromax in place of the levaquin ?

Thanks for your replys, everyone.

She emailed me back and wants me to stay just on Levaquin right now. I emailed back and told her I was concerned that Levaquin doesn't cover Bb adequately.

She's done so well w/me up to now. I hate to mistrust her judgement, but somehow this line of attack just doesn't seem right to me. I feel worse every day.

I herxed on levaquin. So I do believe it gets at Bb in one of its forms.
Just wattch for the tendon problems associated with it. Dont move fast jerky movements or lift anything heavy at all.

One other thing this drug really penitrates everything .

tree,

Thanks for your response. Actually, my LLNP emailed me back and confirmed what you said. She said that it does cover Bb and she thinks I'm herxing. She wants me to give it a full month and then see how I'm doing.

How do you know it penetrates everything? I'm glad to hear that, but could you tell me where can I read more about that?

I'm still worse today, eyes drooping, aching everywhere, brain fog, feet killing me, etc. and I thought I'd gotten rid of most of those symptoms. So I guess if it has better penetration, that would explain this herx, if that's what it is.

Anyway, I agreed to stay on it as she wants me to and hope for the best.

thanks again,

Patti

Patti,

Sounnds like you do have Bart, and that the Levaquin is hiting it good. That's the way that it is. You will probably feel bad for at least a month before feeling better

Thanks for the input, Micul.

You know, I was so hopeful that I was almost well before I started Levaquin, that after I started feeling this bad again, it's like a little alarm went off that said "Oh no! I'm getting worse again."

I'm glad to hear from someone who's been there that a strong dose of patience is in order for at least the next month.
