I know of at least 2 ticks that were embedded when I was much younger, but I doubt they were deer ticks.
I mentioned this to my LLDMD and he said Lyme can be caused by other things...mosquitos, etc. and also said my husband may have it through sexual contact. Wow, that really makes me feel rotten.
Anyone else heard this...is this true?

My own personal belief is that ANY tick can transmit disease. Why couldn't it???
The ticks in my area that transmit Lyme are carried mostly on rodents. They are not deer ticks.
I personally have met (in person or via email) two people who contracted Lyme through mosquito bites and one person who contracted it from biting flies.
But it's hard enough to convince the doctors in my area that Lyme ticks are here, that's the battle I'm fighting.
The whole concept of mosquitoes, fleas and biting flies transmitting Lyme or other tick-borne diseases such as Bartonella (frequent from fleas) is a battle I'll wage in the future. But I personally believe it.
