Is parvovirus B19 somehow connected to Lyme disease? It was included in the coinfection testing I had done 2 wks ago.
All coinfection's tested negative with the exception of parvo. But I'm confused as to what the results mean.
Parvo IgG 4.7 Positive = >1.1
Parvo IgM 0.4 Negative = <0.9
I'm not sure what it means , Anyone know?

Doctors test for Parvo virus, for the symptoms are similar for lyme disease. Hence, you could have Parvo and not have lyme.
It looks like you had a past infection with Parvo, since your IgG was positive. It looks like you do not have a current infection with it since your IgM is negative.

Mycoplasma, epstein barre, parvovirus all are part of the bacterial/viral soup that can be transferred in the bite. My daughter had all of the those. They all cause extreme fatigue and maybe even anemia.
If you had/have it, you may not notice it among all the other symptoms.

parvovirus is something most people had at some point (usually in childhood) and did not even know they had it (very mild illness)...you can only have this once and once you have it you have antibodies against it for life (these will be IgG's) you only have high titer for IgM's if you are having the disease right now.... sometimes if people are infected later in life, they will have joint swelling as their symptom...hence similarity to lyme... unless one is severely immunocompromised, this virus is eliminated from his/her body and causes no problems
so the fact you have IgG's against it means absolutely nothing, except that your doctor is not exactly bright if he/she ordered this test... mine was not bright either and I accepted his parvovirus diagnosis and delayed my treatment of lyme by a year.

I take it back...your doctor measured both IgG and IgM's...mine on the other hand diagnosed me by measuring just IgG...
bottom line is...you had parvovirus at some point, not now though
