I was just about to post this same question.

Is it an antibiotic?

And how does it work? I read that it forces the Lyme out of your tissues.

It's an antiprotozoal agent. Babesia is a protozoa.

It's also used to treat and prevent Pneumocystis Carinii Pneumonia (PCP), which can be a deadly complication for people with AIDS.

I found out from the pharmacist that it is best absorbed if taken with 24 grams of fat. The blood concentration level is about half when taken without.

I never realized how little fat I actually consume. It's really pretty hard to do, if you avoid the hydrogenated stuff.

24 grams fat = approx.
3 Tbsp. Peanut butter -or-
2 1/2 Tbsp. Mayo -or-
2 1/4 Tbsp. Butter -or-
1 3/4 Tbsp. Olive Oil -or-
12 slices center cut bacon

Not very easy to take am dose, when you have no appetite. Ugh!
