i have read that people with chronic lyme usually have subnormal body temp or fluctuating temp. i was always a "hot" person, i would sleep with a sheet while my wife would use 2 blankets, etc. this is no longer the case. i have to cover up all the time when others are hot or comfortable. my body temp is now consistently subnormal, since lyme, unless i am running a low grade fever, which happens fairly often. has anyone else checked their temps?

Hi Jerry,
Yes, I've been taking my son's temp daily since last July.

We just found out last Tuesday that it is Lyme.

Anyway, his temp has fluctuated between 96F and 100F. Sometimes within hours.

Not sure if it's due to Lyme or co-infections.

He has gone back and forth between sweating and chills the whole time. Even before starting abx Tuesday.

my body temp fluctuated within hours also. the sweats and chills may be due to ehrlichia. i don't seem to have the sweats and chills since getting over ehrlichia.

Your post reminded me to check my temp. I hadn't checked in a while. Amazing!!! It is 98.2, The highest it has been in over 2 years. This coincides with starting to look healthy again, having normal color, being able to exercise again and other positive things happening after 26 month of treatment.

In the beginning of my treatment my temp was in the 96s-97s. Eventually it got down to 95 during a period where I was especially pale, cold and weak.

I read that the Lyme re-sets our temp to create a more favorable environment for it.

Hello Jerry,

I also went from being a hot person to having a temp in the 96-97 range for many years. I found out that I was hypo-thyroid about 4yrs into the disease. I believe Lyme likes the thyroid.

Supplementation with Armour Thyroid has done a lot to bring the temp back up, along w- alieviating several other symptoms associated w- the low thyroid function. You might want to get your levels checked out. I see a holistic endocrineologist in CT.

FOr years my normal temp was 96's to low 97's but as I have gotten less symptoms or at least less severe symptoms (and I am still disabled so the symptoms are still quite substantioal.)

My body temp comes up. I am usually right on the mark (98.6) or within .2 either way.

I never really got fevers with the lyme. all the fevers I have gotten over the past 19 years of lyme were due to secondary issues.

Best wishes
