I just wanted to repost a suggestion I remember reading on here some time back --

I'm currently suffering from serum sickness from abx, and that includes horrendous itching all over, particularly on the hands and feet. Tonight I literally thought I was going to scratch the skin off my feet if I couldn't get relief --

I remembered reading about applying a poultice of baking soda (just baking soda and water) to the itchy area -- MY GOODNESS! The itching was 70 % gone in about 2 minutes... what a G-dsend!!! Thank you to whomever posted that suggestion originally.

Also, rubbing alcohol seems to work pretty well, too. Of course topical hydrocortisone or benadryl creme is an option, but honestly, for immediate relief, the baking soda worked even better without any steroids.

I've heard that soaking in a baking soda/water bath can help with full body itching, and now I believe it!!!

I hadn't seen that before and it'll come in very handy.

I have had the "wake up in the middle of the night wanting to scratch my skin off" all too many times. I'm gonna try that.

I have baking soda and am not afraid to use it. [Big Grin]

(Witch hazel works somewhat for at least a short time for me, I've found. And I like the smell of it.)

Polycythemia rubra vera, a blood cancer, may have caused my gen. itching. Lymphomas may also cause this problem. For me it was especially bad after a shower, but hot soaks with Miracle II soap and neutralizer in bath water has solved the problem, thank God.

THanks Mini. Wish I had know that when my back was so dad gum itchy the past few months. It IS better now though. Not sure if it was Morgellons or what. But sores and itching is pretty much gone now.

My daughter's legs get itchy.

The baking soda paste was something my grandmother used to put on my mosquitoe bites as a youngin'

She also used to use baking soda and salt for a "toothwash".

We found an aloe based lotion at my mother's house, and that stopped the topical itching immediately. I'm trying to find it now. It's called Aloe-cept, or something like that.

Have you heard of it? And, if so, where can I get it?
