My son just called me. He is with his dad hunting
right now. This is something that he loves and wanted to try. He said while in the tree stand he looked at the ground and it became blurry and then all the trees felt as if they were coming in on him. He felt like the world was closing in. He was scared and called me at home and said ask the lyme people mom. We are having a visual field test done on Tuesday because he did take plaquenil for a while, he is off now. Any advice appreciated

I'm a little confused. Was he taking the plaquenil for Lyme or some other reason? Are you asking if the vision thing could be a Lyme symptom or a drug side-effect? Has he been diagnosed and treated for Lyme?

Might also check blood glucose. Sometimes hypoglycemia can cause blurry vision and faintness -- not sure that is exactly what you are describing though.

Bea, good points if he is diabetic or not!

He was on Plaquenil for lyme, his sugar is fine. In fact my husband checked it that evening just to make sure. We are going on Tuesday for a visual field test and the doctor had us stop the plaquenil for the time being. He said he felt as if the trees were coming closer and the world was closing in on him. I'm concerned that it could be something neuro

Thanks

Yes Amy,

I have had some weird visual occurances in my fight with this disease.

Hallucinations....rare...but I have experienced some of the same you describe.

Once when I was in hosp recovering from right knee replacement...and given Vanco...

Other times when I was just on anti depressants like prozak.

These should be rare in occurance...at least they were for me...vertigo might be a reason which some lymies get.

Don't worry too much about it...it is freaky but it does happen.......

Hopefully it won't happen at a critical time in your childs life...
Although having a gun in your hand up a tree might not be a good time to get one of these.

Many years ago I experienced something like that and looking back now, I believe it was a panic attack.

I didn't know at that time that I had lyme. I was standing next to my boss while he was explaining something to me (I couldn't understand what he was saying as it had to do with math) and I got so dizzy I thought I would faint.

Nothing like that had ever happened to be before.

It probably is lyme related and hopefully a doctor can ease your mind about it.

I hope he enjoyed his trip otherwise!

Yrs ago with my battles I had many things happen to me.

I did have hallucinations and weird thoughts, dizzy spells, etc.

My lyme was neuro lyme.

Some of those things that happened were from the herxing and others the lyme in the central nervous system.

It is not fun at all - it at times is something you have to just ride thru and on those days you say to yourself this to shall pass, because they do.

When my thoughts or hallucinations were at there worst - thank God My Doc would throw me right in the hosptial for a week on IV's only having to continue on for months at a time.

I have these all the time. They are usually when I am experiencing die off from lyme and co-infections.

When I am walking around the yard and woods, the ground can get blurry so that I have trouble seeing where to step next. I'd check it out for peace of mind but it is probably nothing out of the ordinary for a lyme patient.
