I may be thinking everything is due to lyme, but this driving me crazy.

I have weird internal cheek bumps in my mouth and they get even worse when I use mouthwash.

Actually (not to be gross) but if I use mouthwash, the skin inside my mouth starts to slough off. ICK!

Is it just me? The bumps feel like internal skin nodules all over the inside of my cheeks.

Next week I'll talk about my toes. [Wink]

I don't get the bumps, but I do get that sloughing off stuff from my cheeks after brushing. It's gross. Wondered if it was yeastish stuff, but I don't have a white tongue or itch anywhere. I am bloating like crazy though. Maybe the mouthwash rinsing action makes you even more aware of the stuff?! I don't know, but I'd love to find out!

the bumps you are feeling are salivary glands that are right under the surface of the skin.
if they are yellow and raised they are called Fordyces Granules.

they a normal and not related to lyme disease that i know.

second- buccal mucosa sloughing.
this can be one of many things almost
all benign and also probably not related to lyme.
1)erosive lichen planus.
this is a condition usually prominent during stress times. unknown etiology. usually white and red area and then usually erodes

2)oral yeast, thrush. can cause tissues to mturn white and slough. most prominant on tongue.
the generalized yeast can be everywhere and
is also usually caused by stress of heavy abx.

3)leukoplakia, white skin can be from hot foods
burning the tissue. pizza on palate good example.
tissue will slough. can also be from
some foods, medicines, and smoking.

4) herpes simplex virus 1 &2. these are specific to the mouth and are different from genital, shingles and HIV herpes virues.
treatment is 7-10 day course palliative with
kenlog with orabase, or bag cases acyclovir.

These are the most common causes of tissue sloughing. all are benign and most have to do with stress on or to the body or mind.

white lesions that do not come off are more of a concern and if on the side of the tongue or
cheek should be looked at by an oral
surgeon. if white lesion is a line at the level between the teeth then this white lesion is probably caused by cheek biting and
will look as such.

BY THE WAY YOUR TOES AREN'T IN YOUR MOUTH UNLESS YOU SAY SOMETHING WRONG TO YOUR SPOUSE. LOL

Thanks Doc Dave!

I overlooked one other issue not listed. I've gained 60 pounds on lyme, without a change in diet. Ok, exercise is out for me now. No energy. But I never was very active...just thin naturally (in the past). [Roll Eyes]

I wonder if they really are salivary glands or just fat nodules in my cheeks? Can you empty salivary glands with any treatment if they are blocked? [confused]

My cheek bumps aren't colored or white.......they are just under the skin in my inner cheeks and inner chin/lips. Just like tiny marbles. So hard to explain.

Again, it may be my wanting to blame it all on lyme when I'm also menopausal and gaining weight like crazy. Think 12 pounds in 3 weeks, with weight around my mid-section continuing to increase. Even my doc is confused about the continuing weight gain.

Thanks

A member of our family developed what sounds like something very similar when switching to a new toothpaste.

At first we thought that somehow the inside of his cheeks must have been burned on hot food.

Anyway, after a week or so with the symptoms, he stopped the new toothpaste and went back to the old. Bumps healed.
