Somehow for a brief 24 hours last week the bank made a posting error and our checking account miraculously increased by $7000. Of course they found the mistake and the money wasn't real.

My question, since most everyone here is strapped for cash and has difficulty paying for medical treatment --

If you suddenly had an extra $5000 or $10,000 how would you use it? IV antibiotics or medical tests you normally can't afford or additional supplements or a visit to another LLMD or other medical specialist?

This is a curiousity question, but we all need to dream a little bit now and then.

I forgot to say how I would spend the money. I think I would need more than $10,000, but these are some of the things I would do if I had the money.

1) SPECT scan at Columbia

2) Repeat MetaMetrix ION test

3) At least 6 or more universal peptide shots at $250 each

4) An extra $1000 or so per month for nutritional supplements and herbs

5) Appointment with a real live herbalist who has experience with Lyme

6) More Lyme and tickborne tests -- is the Babesia really gone and does hubby have Ehrlichia or not?

7) 2 or 3 UVB treatments to see if hubby still herxes -- if so, repeat specialized viral testing

8) Specialized immune system tests

9) Repeat all hormone testing and Growth Hormone shots if needed

10) Either a nurse to sit with hubby one afternoon a week or check him into Adult Day Care one day per week -- too much togetherness is hard on us both at times

11) An appointment with a G.I. doc who could heal hubby's stomach

I think I had better quit now as I have probably way overspent the budget already.

I'd take me and my kids to India and get us all Panchakarma treatments for a full system, supercharged detox.

Bea, great question, and wonderful, thoughtful ideas you gave.

Bea, I donate my money to you, and please continue your wish list!

I do hope as you stated you oould get RESPITE for yourself one afternoon a week, etc.

None of your statements were selfish; good for you Bea! Bettyg [Big Grin]

Good post. I was just feeling defeated so dreaming a little is good.

I would see what my LLMD suggested now that he has more resources to help me.

I also would donate some to my LLMD so he can help others like he has helped me.

And I would donate to the Columbia Research Center, the PA LDA for those great booklets they put out, lymenet, lymeblog, lymelog, the children's fund, and I am sure I would find others too.

I also would like to visit a lady on the coast who has helped me in the past balance my body out.

Through supplements she helped me to sleep again at night and I rarely got the headaches I had before seeing her.

I feel I was doing better on IV rocephin so that is a consideration along wtih IV glutathione.

Detoxing needs to be included, but not sure which plan of attack to go with.

I also would purchase the RED drink. I felt it helped me.

And the podi patches.

Massages would be something to look into also. I have noticed in the past they really help with detoxing and getting sleep.

I would go on a grocery shopping spree too for good healthy food.

I have noticed that pool therapy has helped others. I would like to try that too.

I'd like to get my hair colored, cut and styled too just because that makes me feel better.

And I liked to get my service dog groomed.

I also would like to go somewhere where they do the cooking and there is water and good food for the weekend.

Ah yes. I would also like to get the water filter system a local lyme lady told me about instead of having to go to the store and purchase bottled water.

And I would like to get the back wheels on my power chair fixed so they no longer wobble. This would mean a trip down the hill to a mobility store most likely.

The power chair is in need of new tires again and most likely a battery too.

Of course, if all the above worked I most likely would not need the power chair.

If not, then I would like to use some of the money to purchase a power chair that is not 10 or 12 years old.

A car would be great too. It would be great to be able to have the freedom of driving again.

Can't decide whether to get a sportscar or a vehicle that will haul my power chair.

I am assuming I will need to get something inexpensive at first as insurance will most likely be costly since I haven't been driving or had insurance for 5 years now.

You might have noticed I have not put a limit on my financial windfall. [Smile]

I also would like to purchase a home again or at least rent a home with a fenced in yard and have a washer and dryer and a garage again.

I'd also use the money to see what I could do with getting workmens' comp approved. This might mean a trip to CA for a hearing.

And I would use the resources to hire some help with household chores and clerical backlog and set up my income and expenses on the computer again as I did before coming down with lyme disease.

I'd also like to do something fun. A trip to Yellowstone or some other National Park perhaps with a friend.

I'd also like to go to a Christian Retreat.

I'd like to get some clothes too. I haven't purchased new clothes since I came down with this. And some new tennis shoes.

I'd donate it to the Lyme Research Ctr at Columbia in NYC. They're getting closer to opening the doors with every $.

We need that center opened ASAP!

Bea, I think you should spend a little money on pampering yourself. You have been such a support for your hubby for so long. I am just filled with admiration for all your efforts.
