I am confused about the whole yeast thing. I don't have a major problem with it, but I think my LLMD is trying to help me avoid one. I am currently on difulucan, a hefty dose. My LLMD has me on it for 3 weeks, I think. Does the diflucan actually kill the yeast? Or should I take something else to kill it? I don't know whether I should buy Threelac or Theralac or both- because I have heard that they are different- Threelac kills yeast, Theralac is a probiotic.

I hate to spend the money on an expensive probiotic when I've seen some at CVS that is less expensive. I'm taking some right now that I got there.

(sigh) I'm just frustrated and overwhelmed. I want to make sure I'm taking the right things. I am also changing my diet to not feed the yeast. I know I've got to kill the yeast, as well as take a good probiotic.

Yes, Diflucan kills the yeast, but you have to also maintain a healthy diet to keep it at bay.

While on abx, the yeast can get the upper hand in no time at all.

Are you sure Threelac kills yeast? Someone even said it contains yeast.

As for cheap versus expensive brands, you get what you pay for.

I took PB8 for 5 yrs, and always had a yeast problem. Since finding the THERAlac, I'm amazed at how few symptoms I have!

I wasted alot of money on the PB8, and it's considered to be very good.

Read again what the manufacturers of the Theralac have to say about it. The difference is how it avoids the acid in the stomach. Therefore, more is available when it hits your gut.

I personally wouldn't waste money on a brand in a drug store unless it's refrigerated.

Lymetoo!! Thank you! You are so nice always replying to my posts [Smile] You answered my questions very well. I am going to order some theralac [Smile]

Yes, I did see that post, lots of good info there. But it also points out how important it is to take care of the yeast!

A probiotic is important to replenish the flora that the bacteria kills. No matter how much you kill the yeast, you still need to grow the flora.

You do want a probiotic that will make it through to the lower intestines. People on this board say they have had great results with Theralac, that's why I use it.

Whatever kind you use, you want to make sure it is one that has studies that show it reaches the intestines. If not, the bacteria is digested in the stomach and is of no help.
