Vaccine neutralization is interadermal testing using fluogen vaccine. It's for treatment for CFS. CFS may be triggered by hyper-reactive response from the body, triggered by a virus or antibody. This causes the brain to continually fire off chemicals.
I just got this information in the mail from my lyme doctor. Does anyone have anymore information on this??
The vaccine neutralization is designed to calm down the immune system so there is no longer a hyper-reactive response to an old virus or antibody.
You get two shot a week for 6-12 months. Is it a flu vaccine? Any information would be appreciated!!

This is a tough question -- I personally would do a lot of research before trying something like this, though I'm not saying it doesn't have potential merit....
Lyme affects the immune system rather unpredicatbly -- some of us seem to have auto-immune or hyperimmune type responses, whereas others have general immunosuppression -- sometimes we seem to have BOTH -- hyperimmune in some areas, immunosuppressed in others...
My gut feeling is that it probably depends, at least partly, on what co-infections one has (perhaps which strain, genetics, etc. are other factors, too.) --- and I don't mean just other commonly-referenced Tbd coinfections, but latent virii that get reactivated, mycoplasma, other less-well-understood things that we picked up along the way, either from ticks or from other sources....
Please remember that CFIDS is a poorly understood condition, even by the top experts. Many diagnoses of CFIDS turn out to be lyme (and probably other stuff, too) -- and no causative agent has been identified beyond some doubt.

Does any one know about this Vaccine Neutralization. I can't find any info on it.
The information that I got on it says that the hyper-reactive state with continous firing of brain chemicals can lead to a weakend immune system. So you would think that correcting the hyper-reactive state would be a good thing.
I got the information from my lyme doctor who is well known for treating lyme.
If anyone knows anything about this please let me know.

I know of an LLMD using this. And I do know of a person taking the shots. She thinks they are helping. But I would still proceed with great caution.
I hate vaccines of any kind.

I used to HATE needles, but with the twice a day Heparin shots and the B12 shots I got over it.
Do you know if this Vaccine Neutralization is new or if it's been around awhile. I thought it might be new since my lyme doctor never mentioned it before.

I searched google, yahoo, and even the CFS web-site www.immunesupport.com. I couldn't find anything on it either.
If anyone has any info please let me know. I will have to call my doctor in the morning and find out what they are talking about.

I did talk to a llmd allergy dr, who uses this and said it has been around quite awhile allthough not widely known.
He said it helps many people feel better right away Actually have talked to others PM with lyme that this did help, but my dd did not notice any impovement or have the expected wheal reaction in the test so we aren't doing the shots now. I wonder if it is because her body is sooo immune depressed now and fighting sooo many things. Perhaps it did help build up her immune system, just not as much as others.
I do know you shouldn't do it if you have reacted to the flu shot or eggs.

I also have had the vaccine neutralization shots. They helped me tremendously- especially with leg stiffness, neck pain, and brain fog. I love them! I just returned a day ago from my family's first appointments (five of us) with the llmd you are all talking about in LA.
He explained the process of the shot in layman's terms to us. Basically it has already been said on this thread.
If you have been sick a very long time and your body is constantly in the fight mode, your immune system could at some point starting attacking normal healthy tissue. I know for a fact that this does happen and is part of my problem.
He did the six shot testing, which is a different concentration of shots, one at a time with a 10 minutes wait inbetweeen to check for greater feeling of wellness.
It blew me away because I had NO faith in the process, but sure enough, after I reached a certain shot concentration, about shot number 4, the neuropathy that I had in the bottoms of my feet passed away and my head cleared.
It is a bizzare experience, and the mechanism of action is not well understood, but the nurses in his office said that the process has been used by allergists for about 60 years, so it is not some new fad.
His office has MANY people taking these shots that report getting help from them.
It did occur to me that anything that calms the attacking mode of the immune system is questionable. Why would we take immune support supplements, and this shot at the same time? I really don't get that.
But what the good doctor said is that it BALANCES the immune system so that it stops attacking where it doesn't need to, and doesn't stop where it needs to be attacking.
Anyway, my entire family has just been put on the shots and we'll see how that goes.
We all experienced a heightened feeling of wellness during the shots, even my 7 year old.

I thought that these shots might help me too. I know my immune system is over active because it attacked and destroyed my thyroid.
