Estrogen based hormone replacement supplements CAN AND DO CAUSE BREAST CANCER. THE DRUG USED FOR TREATMENT AFTER BREAST CANCER, ARIMIDEX or TAMOXIFEN BOTH CAUSE OSTEOPOROSIS.
MOST birth control pills are estrogen based and if you are predisposed with a genetic defect ,will cause cancer latter in life.
there has been an alarming increase in breast cancer in young woman . these young woman are in their 20's and 30's, and most have been on birth control pills. this increase has been within the last five years.
This is also true of black cohosh, natural estrogen in herb form used for peri and post menopausal women.
So additional estrogen in any form is no good, What's the answer::: leave the windows open and lots of fans,avoid premarin ,BCP and black cohosh at all costs or at least know the risks.

THIS infomation is very important for anybody using any biphosphonates for osteoporsis. The most popular being used now is fosamax.
This is new information just released several months ago ,and Merck knew about, but refused to place warning labels.
My wife was on Hormone replacement for 8 years. My wife found out she had breast cancer 4 years ago. Lumpectomy was done and Arimidex given for 5 years. Arimidex/Tamoxafin is normal protocol post surgery to prevent metastasis.
Luckily I was in remmission at the time. 4 years post op she is doing great no recurance. She was given a biphosphonate fosamax and also zometa iv for osteoporosis.
My wife has recently went to have a tooth removed and discovered that fosamax, zometa, and any biphophonates used for osteoporosis or bone cancer can cause spontaneous osteonecrosis(jaw bone death). Actually the oral surgeon we saw was the first to coorelate osteonecrosis and biphophonates.
This osteonecrosis can increase significantly with dental extraction and periodontal disease.
This will probably be merck's last drug before going bankrupt, because this will a hugh case against Merck. Sell your merck drug stock
THIS is very very serious and can cause you to loose your entire jaw. THIS is real and not a joke Merck did not disclose this problem even though they new about it years ago.

I can believe what your saying. My very good friend developed stage 4 breat cancer after doing HRT for 2 years.
2 1/2 yars ago at the age of 40 I broke my humeral neck and found out I had the start of osteoporosis.
I knew there had to be a better option than Fosamax or Actonel. I did 1200 mg of Vital Nutrients calcium, Strontium, Vitamin K and D. July 2005 went in for a second bone density and the osteo is gone. My bone density had increased by 10%. There are other options I agree. Weight bearing exercises are very important I agree.
Thank you for information on these very dangerous drugs. I always thought HRT could cause breast cancer but wasn't aware of Black Cohosh.

According to the "Deotxify or die" book (which by the way, I would STRONGLY recommend you read) you should be taking IndolPlex if you are on estrogen hormone replacement therapy. Estrogen hormone replacement therapy more than doubles the risk of cancer. IndolPlex prevents prescription estrogens like Premarin from metabolizing into the cancer-causing form.

I developed stage 1 breast cancer after taking HRT for 2-3 years. I had no family history of any type of cancer on either side. It was found during a routine mammagram.
Had a lumpectomy and radiation but no chemo. It was recommended that I take Tamoxifen, however I read up on this drug and I decided againt it. This drug causes other cancers and problems. My side effects were very severe and my doctor could care less. She would not offer me any other options, so I am in the process of dumping her to get other opinions.
All these drugs touted by the pharmaceutical companies are dangerous for one or more reasons. However, they play on your emotions and tell you there is so much more chance or reoccurance if you do not take them. But if you really do your homework and crunch the numbers, the mortality is no different. Yes, the treatment is successful if you do not develop a reoccurance of breast cancer. You are placed on that success list. But no mention what happens if you develop another type of cancer - uterine, etc - FROM the treatment supposedly preventing breast cancer - then die of that. Remember - you are still in the success column because you never died of breast cancer.
Bottom line - do your homework before you put anything in your body. There are options. The pharmaceutical companies and the doctors pushing these products are in it for the money. They make the studies read the way they want them to read.
If I had it to do over again, I never would have used BC pills or HRT. Fortunately, I will be able to guide my teenage daughters in better directions when it comes to things like this.

Alig: i think you misunderstood the post. my wife did not get osteonecrosis, due to the diligence of a very well educated oral surgeon. he refused to remove the tooth , due to the possiblity of osteonecrosis and biphoshonates.
i have contacted Dr. M at miami med school and there are no studies at the present time for the frequency of oseteonecrosis and biphosphonates.
his study was not double blind and only involved women that were refered with osteonecrosis already.
he does not know at this time what the frequency of occurance is.

Hi,
I take Actonel and Miacalcin.
Actonel's active ingredient is risedronate sodium and its inactive ingredients do not include the one in discussion here.
Is Actonel still potentially dangerous like Fosamax?

shizuko: actonel like fosamax is a biphosphonate and will cause the same problems. consult your doc about this before going off. sometimes the side effects warrant the risk if your bone density is very low then you may have to consider this over posible osteonecrosis http://www.aaronsonandrash.com/DeadJaw.asp

lou: yes i understand that there are many variables in the equation of breast cancer.
in long island, from the "potato farms & DDT" and also Plum Island???? .women on long island have a 1 in 10 chance of breast cancer. this is the highest localized area of the country.
hrt and estrogen in birth control pills may be accountable for the increase in breast cancer in general, but also probably the reason of a 5 fold increase in 20-30 year olds in the last 7 years. this is a dramatic increase which probably does not have to do with the environment.

Thanks for pointing out to me that biphosphonate is a class of drug (rather than an ingredient in a drug.)
I do have Osteopenia in the hips and most likely a little more severe situation in my lower back, but I will ask my doctor (my LLMD, that is) about it.
I wonder if those with TMJ, especially severe one, might be more susceptible to developing the Dead Jaw from this kind of drug than others who don't have TMJ.
I have TMJ....

I just read that toxins called parabens were isolated from tissues in breast, uterine & ovarian cancers. (I think that's the three)
I'm a label reader and I thought this sounded like a familiar ingredient.
I went to my bathroom to check. Parabens (Methyl, propyl, & other parabens) are very common ingredients in shampoos, conditioners, moisturizers, sunscreens (incl. baby sunscreen) & even that new mouthwash I just got (Oasis).
I just looked at Johnson's softlotion (Johnson & Johnson). Parabens listed: Methylparaben, Butylparaben, Ethylparaben, Propylparaben, Isopropylparaben and Isobutylparaben.
Your wife may want to reevaluate any current beauty regime. I am finding a lot of conflict when I try to research this though. It seems it may be a controversy.
