short history:
- 3 years untreated
- a little over 2 years treatment by LLMD with all kind of abx. I started with a CRP of 140 and got it down to 0.9...
- I stopped meds April this year
- it was great. I felt great, even bought a street bike and started working out.
- now 6 months later the Lyme symptoms came back and CRP is up to 2.7. My first relapse...

So I am back on Tetracycline and Flucanazole, since that helped me a lot the first time around.

Ten days into the meds I feel like crap, all the time. I have had herxes before, especially on Bicillin shots, but I feel like crap ALL THE TIME. Can I be in one loooooooooong herx or something?

And my eyes are very light sensitive and I feel a lot of pressure in my eyes. It's not a side effect of either med, so is this herx related? Never had eye pressure before. Long time ago my eyes were light sensitive, but that went away quickly when i started treatment.

Also, to relapse after six months is 'normal' / short / long for a first relapse? I am assuming I will get back to where I was before the relapse. Can I expect that the second relapse will take longer than 6 months? I hope so.

Your comments / shared experience is welcome!

hey Tvalentijn,

I am so sorry you are feeling so bad & had a set back.

I agree with heather-it sounds like a herx.

It will pass in time.

If it get too bad call your LLMD and maye he can ramp you up more slowly.

I was in tx for 3 years & herxed almost the whole time. But towards the end started pulsing. This helped my body to rebound in between herxing.

I hope you call your doc soon

hang in there [group hug]
and try to take each day at a time [kiss]

ps: you might want to get an eye check up to be on the safe side. Light sensitiviety is very common with lyme but I would get the pressure checked.

Hmm. I dunno. Are you sure it's a Bb relapse? Because when this happened to me, it turned out the main problems were bart and babesia. For the hubby, it was a babs relapse and virus problems.

Good luck. Hang in there. Relapses are a horrendous shock and disappointment, but can be overcome.

I would also check into babesia and/or bartonella. I never really relapsed. I stayed on abx for more than 4 yrs. [yucko!]

But now I'm doing great....you'll get there too!!
