Hi All, I finally got up to 1 whole pill yesterday after noon.I had eased my way up to that. And not long after taking it,here it came. This morning burning aching joints and muscles and severe headache and mostly depressed.I would like to go sit in a corner and cry for a very very long time. But my best friend who doesnt have an unkind bone in her body just entered rehab for alcoholism.Just a sensative soul who as her mother said couldnt even be a mean drunk.Im going to send a letter of encouragement and hope I get THE MESSAGE as well.
Has anyone else had these same symptoms on flagyl? This depression is a killer.RG

Hi Radiogirl,
The flagy and Tindamax made me kinda an emotional fruitcake.......I got weepy over little things.
Then that caused me to think about being sick all time, then that caused me to think I wish I wouldn't wake up in the morning, then that caused me to think more crapola.
When the flagyl or tindamax stopped so did almost all the boo-hoo thoughts.
I find w/ the LD I'm just a bit more prone to sadness, luckily for me it usually doesn't last long. I'm by nature a happy soul.
Just my expierence with these abx's.

Oh Great !
I just brought home my Flagyl-generic-think maybe I will put off the first dose until I have laid in a sufficient supply of kleenex.
Glad to know I won't be alone in my boo hooing.
I'm already a mess- can't wait to take it to the next level.

Flagel made me a weepie mess and really hit hard in many ways.
Could you ramp up? Maybe discuss this with your LLMD.
This will pass over time. Its hardest in the beginning when your cyst load is high.
Hang in there

RG, I'm on day 4 of flagyl - 250mg/day in combination w/ 400mg/day of doxycycline.
I've had a killer headache most of the time, muscle weakness, and some pretty bad pain that moves around.
Also, before I started I was having some minor muscle spasm/twitches and it seems they have slightly worsened (some days better than others).
But, I am managing! Yesterday, I started taking magnesium - just one pill to start - to see if it helps the muscle spasms.
I'm trying to drink a LOT of water...keep the ol' system flushed.
Good luck!

It's ROUGH! Flagyl made me depressed non-stop the whole time I was on it. Don't know how I survived...but it's a very necessary drug. You have to have something as a cyst buster.
Ask your LLMD if you can take one or two days off per week.

Flagyl is especially known to cause depression in many, and not just the Boo-Hoo type.
PLEASE be cautious while on this med, and make sure that you have friends checking in with you on a regular basis, OK?
And Miss Toots raised a very good point, many docs are now pulsing Flagyl in order to give not only your physical body a break, but your emotions one too.
Good luck to you! Melanie

flagyl inhibits serotonin production. i remember feeling it terribly. i have taken many many drugs over the years, this was probably the worst for me. also in trials done, it causes cancer in lab animals.

Thanks Brett,,,
just what she needed to hear...
The rats were given a whole lot more flagyl than you could ever take dear...
Look...flagyl and the like are cystbusters and necessary... I was first given 250 mgs three times a day and I tolerated it very well and it busted a lot of cysts....i guess...
anyway...yes...your pharmacist will tell you that it causes lethargy....
Lyme itself can cause crying jags...I had them LOOOONG before I ever used flagyl...and I am a guy...
This disease puts us thru a lot of emotional trauma as well as physical trauma especially when we are killing it...just keep that in mind...
