Has anyone here had tratment with a garlic IV? I have had 3 now and find them very powerful. Definately helping with candida but can also be effective against lyme.

I never heard of garlic IV's. Is this prescribed by a Doctor? For fungal infections?

A quick look up I did not find garlic IV here
in this country ???

Yes, it is considered a treatment for lyme. There is a naturopathic physician in Portland, Oregon that has been having good results with it. I'm not quite sure who came up with this but it does make sense to me. Just wish that I didn't feel like an experimental lab animal!

I'm taking fresh garlic orally in hopes of tackling any lyme since I am not on any antibiotic.

It is a powerful natural antibiotic.

I take 2 tsps daily. I chop it and swallow it like pills. So far my husband says I do not stink. (that was before he began taking it himself)

He has a sinus infection and the doctor has him taking garlic through a powdered drink. Really nasty but seems to be working.

Luvs, you can get the garlic pureed in a bottle at the store (produce or deli section)....makes it much easier to take.

I would think garlic IV's would burn like heck [Eek!]

I took raw garlic before I found out I had lyme about 3 years ago, it was the only thing that made the fatigue a little better, 7-10, YES, 7-10 cloves a day to stay barely alive. it still was

NOTHING compared to what the antibiotics did when I took them. 7-10 cloves of garlic did not equal 2 biaxins a day.

So, to the person taking garlic as the only antibiotic right now, be very careful.

I went off antibiotics twice to treat alternatively without antibiotics, and both times became VERY sick. VERY sick, I just about died.

For myself the breathing was deadly, and I would have gone into a Respiratory Distress syndrome and died.

I have read in the MD journals a death or deaths from lyme and respiratory distress syndrome.

Why postpone antibiotics not sure if you are, but if you are, be careful.

Some get well only partly with antbiotics and then go to rife or whatever else, others just need the antibiotics.

Meg, Garlic processed that way has probably very little if any allicin releasing potential left. Nor do I think you will get organic garlic that way.

Since garlic has a high affinity for toxins, commercial garlic is often loaded with pesticides and heavy metals. I do not believe the garlic out of China to be organic.

The freeze drying process preserves the alliin.

I have never had it IV, but know that it is done.
But --- since there are so many other expenses connected with this Disease and the accompanying infections and toxicities, that have or should be done via IV, I found organic freeze dried garlic works great orally. I took it for several years, rain or shine, to titration - 12 capsules for a long time to titration (until the neighbor smells you) and then cut back a bit.

I still use it to maintain ongoing detox for the daily accumulation of toxins from food and environment. I think we will have to be actively detoxing for all the years of our lives if we want to stay healthy.

Take care.

I have been doing Myers Cocktail IV's since the original diagnosis of Fibromyalgia. For those that don't know, it's basically Magnesium, Vit B, Vit C, and various other things that are suppose to help with pain management.

This is done through a N.D. that graduated from somewhere in Portland, OR. I understand they have a lot of N.D.'s out there due to the school and I imagine they have many tricks up their sleeve.

I do know that my doctor discussed an IV that was like Myers but had hydrogen peroxide and for the life of me I can't remember the other thing he said (sorry, brain fog) but it wasn't garlic.

I will definitely atleast ask him if he knows anything about the garlic IV and in the meantime has anyone had hydrogen peroxide in their IV. I've only read about one other person and they said it made them dizzy.

Great imput going on in this topic.

Cathy

The garlic IV is a concentrate of allicin, some DMSO and phosphatidylcholine that is then diluted in a lot of saline. It doesn't burn too much but sure does make one stink out of every pore for about 12-20 hours afterwards. Fun, fun, fun............

I am also on antibiotics. Have been on them for 1 1/2 years with not so much as a smidgeon of improvement. The garlic feels like a last resort and maybe with the antibiotics, herbs, & supplements I will see something change. It sure is hard to keep the ray of hope alive! I'm still holding on but it is trying.

Whatever and however you are doing it, you will have a die-off of a variety of undesirables with garlic as with most other agents, and unless you have a lot of mop-up agents on board, you will fight the toxins all over again and for some time to come.

It takes a lot of fiber, fiber, fiber, chlorella, chitosan, cholestyramine, pectins, Destroxin, betasitosterol to clean up and prevent the redistribution of the neurotoxins, whatever they are.

If you still have the inner vibrations, up your mop-ups heavily and you will notice something happening. At least we did.

Take care.

I'll put up some extracts at a later date....but for the sake of comment at the moment, here's what I've read about garlic.

It's believed that the active ingredient in garlic against plasmodium is Aloene.

Aloene is a later derivitive of allicin. Allicin is not contained in garlic, it only appears when garlic is chopped or ground, and only for a short while. There's debate on whether Allicin can be used by the body, or whether it is the other substances that it changes too....one of them is Aloene.

Aloene is well preserved in garlic with oil, in fact it can increase in this substance.

I don't know how to get Chinese garlic, but mine is grown in Calif.

There's a lot of controversy on just what makes garlic work and for which function......

Folks can check out the derivitives of Allicin, and their viability and stability for some interesting info.

Health,

Thank you sincerely for your concern. I was first bit in 1995. At that time, 6 mths of abx to get me well. Aug 05 I came down with migratory joint pain. By then I also had suffered years of migraines, shortterm memory problems, stiff neck. None of this was associated with lyme.

Two LLMDs said at this stage of lyme, abx were no good. So no one put me on abx. I am thriving on alternative care. More than anything else, diet seems to be the most helpful.

No one can say for sure if lyme still plagues me or if I developed Leaky Gut Syndrome from the 6 mths of abx and the LGS has just gotten progressively worse over time. Tending to my gut keeps me pain free. Staying consistent on the diet is very difficult because my husband and I own a business, work long hours and eat out way too often so hard to control my food.

I take 300 mgs minocycline (for mycoplasmas) as a precaution for Rheum Arthritis and the garlic as an antibiotic and detoxifier. My garlic is organic and I don't find it difficult to keep chopped on hand. Only problem with it is it has such a strong smell, I can't take it to work with me so I am limited on how much garlic I can consume. Commercial freeze-dried would be helpful for that. My doctor says it is a great detoxifier. Many supplements and IVs of glutathione. I have gone from housebound to fully functional with this regime.

I'm thriving and not at all willing to wreck my gut again with abx as long as I am this good.

It's not garlic. It's allitridi, a breakdown product of garlic that is effective against fungi in particular and also other organisms including tuberculosis etc, but is not as powerful as allicin. Allitridi stinks worse than allicin. The allitridi comes from China and is sterile. It is being used by a few doctors and I had hoped to try it too, but hadn't gotten around to it. It was my hope that it would be an effective systemic antifungal for me without any liver problems. Its just that you can get significant dieoff from it if you have a major fungal/mold issue as I do, so I need the time and space to be able to lie around feeling bad. I had not heard of it being mixed with DMSO--usually just with the phosphatidyl choline to minimize the burning. Why is your doc using DMSO?
