I have had the most unbearable pain in a couple of my teeth (in the actual tooth, up into the gums). I went to the dentist, and he did tons of XRays and prodded around, but couldn't find anything, so the BF and I think it could be my meds.
I am currently on Clindamycin, Flagyl, Mepron, and Ketek (all oral). Anyone know if one of these could be the culprit?

more info: upper or lower back or front number of teeth together or not? molars ,bicuspids what? sens to hot, cold, biting(mastication), constant or intermitant pain agrevated by? hurt in morning, night ,worse morning, worse night.
hurt when biting but not hurt when not chewing?
as much info as needed and i'll tell your story. can dx what i don't know, and yes you can dx dental by symptoms also.

Hi, I am so Sorry about the tooth pain, I know it can be one of the most unbearable of pains from 1st hand experience..Since the dentist didn't find anything.. I thought I would toss this one idea out to you.
Have you ruled out sinus infection or pressure ?? After Lyme I noticed an increase in my allergies.
Allergies became year round about 10 years back..I eventually while working 10-12 hr. days outdoors at a bad time of the year for me woke to a swollen jaw and terrible tooth pain, it even seemed to be in my glands.
I had what I assumed was the worst abcessed tooth I had ever had .. it was from where I had a previous temp. crown that had worn down with time and some of the crwn was gone.
I assumed something had gotten under the crown..but was not even sure it was from that tooth because others hurt in the same area, the only thing that helped it were specific antibiotics , it lasted for weeks.
My whole jaw on that side was swollen.. apprently a sinus infection of some type is what it turned out to be( never had one like that before or since).( I don't remember what the doc. gave me though..because it was before I got DX. w/ Lyme so I didn't pay too much attention back then.
You will have to see whats indicated . I think it was very strong because it was expensive/but I didn't have insurance either back then.Check arround on the internet/or with your doctor to see if there is a chance this is the cause if it feels live a sensitive tooth /teeth, swelling , raw pain...w/ awful pressure.

I hate to open up a big can of worms for you, but this same thing happened to me, and I ended up having them pulled. They were biopsied, and the results were "chronic pulpitis" - or, chronic inflammation in the roots of the teeth. The tooth was partially viable. In my case, it's possible that a surgery I had in my teens led to poor circulation to that area. In any case, I think the chronic inflammation from chronic infection seemed to be the demise of those teeth.
I do know a handful of others like me with chronic Lyme who had many teeth die one by one.
Feel free to write with more questions. There is also a dentist on this board, so hopefully he'll give his two cents worth as well.

OK, tooth pain is gone, it happened like this a couple months ago... Excruciating pain within the tooth and gum that couldn't be explained, and then *poof* nothing. Same tooth.
I was diagnosed with TMJ 2 weeks after my Lyme dx, and the day I was dx with encephalitis and meningitis (almost 2 years ago). I got the custom-night guard, and have no more TMJ issues. (I originally thought that I was just biting down super hard at night and putting stress on that tooth)
No Sinus issues. I have developed horrible allergies since being dx with Lyme, but I haven't been around any of the allergens. We keep the humidifier going at night, so that neither of us wake up stuffy.
I have an LLMD visit in 2 weeks, I'll also bring it up with him.

Have you ever had an accident ie car crash face hit steering wheel. fall a a child on bike? fall on motorcycle??
could be sevral things. 1) trigeminal neuralgia very unlikely 2) previos trama which damaged tooth, very probably, even from 20 years previously. 3) if had braces, then movement to fast and destruction of the nerve supply. 4) cracked tooth syndrome, probably from either trama or tmj grinding. canine is the main teeth the mouth rides on when moving the mouth side to side. 5) nite guard too tight, have doc relieve inside of niteguard so canine does not touch niteguard. 6) if have peiodontal pocket, might have gotten corn husk or something caught in gum

Hi AP, Im sorry youve been in such pain with your teeth and I really commiserate. Ive just been diagnosed with chronic Lyme and since I have had terrible tooth/jaw pain and abcesses for years now, it was big on my mind to ask the LLMD about.
He suprised me by saying that he had lost his two front teeth to Lyme, I was amazed because I have already lost one upper tooth, right side, that just died despite flossing, cleaning and hygenist deep cleansing.
I told him about a constant leaking abcess in my right jawline and he said that it was most probably a pocket of Lyme bugs.
As Im writing Ive got tooth pain inside the teeth, in the jaw and up into my eye, and it moves around. It ususally comes and goes
I dont start my abx until next week, so I think mine must be the bugs.

My daughter just had this last week. She has had this off and on throughout her illness. Before she was diagnosed, she three root canals. The teeth had hairline fractures that could be seen, but now we know to wait a few days before going to the dentist.
I believe that's part of the bartonella symptoms. Rather than lose teeth, and the cost of dental visit, wait several days. We did, and her pain is gone...in that area, at least.

I recently read about how neurotoxins from Lymes and other such illnesses can cause severe tooth pain and symptoms. The die off and toxins stay in various hiding spots in our bodies and I guess the teeth are one of the spots. Dr.S from Maryland talks about MANY of his patients with varying neurotoxic illnesses having tooth pain symptoms and how his protocol worked to clear those out. This protocol can be done while on abx too. For your sake...I really hope that I'm right as tooth pain is the WORSE!!!! Christina

All my teeth have fine lines in them that one dentist told me was from grinding my teeth. Does anyone else have these? I think its from the lyme.
I recently had an abscessed root canal completely taken out. It use to cause me such bad headaches and I've noticed since it is gone, the headaches are much better.
It was the second to the last tooth so I'd really rather leave it alone. I don't need more trouble with implants.

Sure I'll share...cholestryramine... I did it for 6 weeks and at first I didnt think it was working...but then I noticed that alot of my "drugged out" symptoms had gone and all that was left was the Lyme ones from a reinfection. I read Dr. S's book and checked out his website which provides a free CVS (vision test) to measure toxins and alot of other info. His book is where I read about the tooth pain. TOOTH pain is the WORSE!!
