I realize everyone is different but can you guys tell me how long I might be spending time here in h311.
My suffering has amounted to headaches first thing in the morning (bonecrushing) along with muscle aches just achey all over.
And ofcourse Im a pleasure to be around. My husband wants to know how much longer im going to be this charming?RG

Yes, Flagyl causes are herx from h311. Some say it is worth it and you will benefit from this suffering on the other end. But I am a whimp. I choose not to herx that hard. If it causes too much I back off on my meds until I feel better and start again. If I find it intolerable I make a call to my primary.
So you might want to call the doc and see what they have to say. How long is it prescribed for?
gentle hugs, Karen

I'm on day (Sun,Mon,Tues, Wed, Thurs. she says as she counts her fingers)) Five of 500 Flagyl 2 x day for two weeks.
Actually it's generic Metronidazole. Nastiest tasting stuff I have yet to take-no matter how quickly I try to swallow
Anyway- today has been better. Yes, to the bone achiness, hips, left especially , hard to walk, feet tingling, chills and deep eye aches. But I figure I can make it two weeks on, two weeks off, etc.
As for my disposition? If I don't have anything nice to say I try not to say anything-so I'm pretty quiet. A lot of people think I am ignoring them. Whatever.

I wish we could give you an answer. But we are all different and respond differently.
I find herxes are usually worst for two weeks. But it always varies. I didn't stay on Flagyl long enough to get used to it, my doctor felt I couldn't handle it.

My experience with metronidazol was less intense then some of the folks around here.
I don't know if that is because I was'nt taking it in conjunction with a chete killer or because my chete count was low.
I had about a four day herx(mild) and then was quite fine.
Now when I pulse while taking azithromycin I have a stronger herx.
Plus I usually start my dosing around the times of my monthly flares...so I may be killing off lots more chetes(reason for feeling crappy)
In any event I believe this drug is a necessity!
But only do what you can. I don't believe the cysts can become resistant.
