Pick a state.. any state. PLEASE pick a state!!!

We need to have information about all states compiled on a list.

This is what is needed... I hope YOU can help??


Statistics for each state, including, but not limited to...

1. Types of ticks found there

2. Types of TBDs reported there

3. Number of cases reported to the CDC

4. Number of fatalities reported from ANY associated tick borne disease

5. Any current/recent state articles

Any more suggestions for locations to explore?

It would also be helpful to know which states are required to report TBDs and which are not...therefore dramatically affecting stats.

And which TBDs are notifiable and which are not.

Yes, this could get really involved really fast, but it would be nice to have just the basics, and then add on as time permits.

So, please don't let my additional suggested places for info overwhelm anyone!!!

Using the CDCs own under-reported standard of 10 fold: 31,720

Here in ny they dont even want you to report TBD's. At least in my county. I called the health dept to let them know about my son & was told it wasnt reportable as he was diagnosed out of state!

I highly doubt ny's numbers are anywhere near what they should be.

Not so for Oregon at least. Oregon's reporting criteria is stricter than the CDC's so Oregon State's figures will show fewer numbers than even CDC survelliance.

Heh, well...

Nothing's changed since 1994 then.

I tried to report myself in NY and was told they couldn't take a report from me and wouldn't accept one from an out of state doctor. I lived on the Jersey border and was diagnosed in NJ.

I know I'm still not counted.

I was diagnosed in 2003 in Colorado.

In the CCD chart there is a big fat 0 for the year 2003.

Guess I wasn't counted either.

We wouldn't want tourism or real estate values to suffer.

In Hawaii Lyme Disease is not a Notifiable Disease.

Hmmmm...I wonder how those seven cases slipped through?

Montana is not accepting reports until isolation of the disease.

Sorry Montana...apparently your disease needs to be put in a time out.

Are you looking for certain types of articles or do you want as many as we can find? I can find hundreds of newspaper articles during the last year in New York, but am not sure what you are looking for.

Keep in mind... The person I am dealing with is NOT the brightest bulb on the tree.. but I did manage to get an answer.. sort of. Gotta love her but GEEZE.. some days.. YIKES!

The reply was...

"..looking for 2-3 recent articles from each state. The criteria should be that the articles contain ACCURATE information..."

See what I said about the "brightest bulb"? That is ALMOST as cleaver as those who say.. "The best way to prevent Lyme is to not get bitten by a tick."



They felt the article should be something that tells the facts that HELP folks.. not garbage that will hurt them. And good strong articles that will show folks that Lyme should be taken seriously.

I am sure you will be able to spot the better ones. And for doing that work... THANK YOU!!!!

I just heard back that the stats for all states have been completed by our "not the brightest bulb"!

Could I have made a mistake? After all that IS a ton of work!!! HOLY COW!

Good job bright bulb!

But.. articles are still needed... so don't hesitate if you are up to it.

There is one about the firefighter that may be used.. which is so sad but he needs to be remembered.

And then an old one by your's truely.. but I am hoping there are MUCH better ones to use as that was simply a Q & A thing. But if scraping rock bottom.. it is out there.

Keep up the good work.

And if anyone has time.. could you please make the weather a bit warmer here? I'd like the temps to stay warm enough so I can go barefoot day and night. Thanks!
