Two years ago I was quite ill and although I did not have an active Lyme infection at the time, and had great success taking cholestyramine to flush out the neurotoxins that remained from a previous infection. I now have a new infection and am on oral doxy for that. Googling "cholestyramine" brings up the info that it may interfere with the absorption of doxy. The doctor I am seeing now is not the same one who prescribed the cholestyramine, isn't familiar with the protocol, and I can't get info from the original doc's office--he is some distance from me. Does anyone have any experience with this? I need to know whether I can do both therapies at the same time. The cholestyramine was so effective for me that I'd rather not wait a month or more till I'm off doxy, unless I have to.

From what I have read,(Dr.B's recommendations recently in this forum under my posting "WHAT
DOES WORK") you can do both abx and CSM together...CSM and then doxy at least an hour
later or doxy and then the CSM 2-3 hours after. I did the CSM for 6 weeks and it took many
symptoms away except for what my doc says is a reinfection. As soon as I'm done with the doxy,
I'm back on CSM too. Right now for me it would be too much timing and
juggling to do both as well as the liquid vits I'm taking and herbs too.

I think you are safe as long as you take the CSM at least 2 to 4 hours before or after any meds or supplements. I try to take mine on an empty stomach (faster absorption) with lots and lots of water just to be sure, and then I wait at least 2 hours for any meds.

NOt sure if it is necessary, since you are familiar with CSM but each time my daughter did this, she also started with some actos to help with any potential herx. lymemomtooo
