quote: Please note that:

The absorption of quinolone antibiotics (such as ciprofloxacin and moxofloxacin), tetracycline antibiotics (including tetracycline, doxycycline, and minocycline),

and nitrofurantoin is diminished when taken with magnesium supplements.

Therefore, magnesium should be taken two to four hours before or after taking these medications to avoid interference with absorption.

does this mean i should not take mg tab sr at all, which is 12 hour sustained release, because i'm taking minocycline?

should i switch brands of mg? thanks, dee

The issue is absorbtion not release time. The mag will be absorbed out of the stomach/upper digestive track in a few hours. It will then release slowly out of the blood stream.

If you take the abx first and the mag two hours later all is well.

I was on tetra for several years and managed to get the mag and other suppliments in around it.
