Ok, so not only am I positive, but I had 3 of my 5 kids tested, (the ones who seem most symptomatic of something wierd) and guess what?:

child #1 14 yrs old
Igenex pos IGG 23-25+
31+++
34IND
39IND
41++
58++
83-93IND
IGM neg, with 41++ and IND on 23-25 and 39
(I know, lyme specific. YAY)

child#2 11 years old
Igenex IGG positive
23-25+
31IND
34+
39IND
41+++
58++
83-93IND

IGM neg with only 41 IND

child#3 8 yrs old

IGG neg
30+
31IND
39IND
41+++
58+

IGM Igenex and CDC positive , will spare the gory details.

my questions
The doctor might say that the only reason my kids age IGG positive is because I am positive and was infected before pregnancy.

He may say that if they are indeed actively infected, they would show IGM.

So, in theory, the only one with lyme, in their opinion will be child #3 (least symptomatic of the 3!!, although absent from school more and more frequently because of "malaise")

any suggested info that the doc will accept?
Problem is that I am no longer living in the US. I am being treated in NY (flew in for the visit)

This is getting to be prohibitively expensive!

Anyone have any idea what a therapeutic -for-lyme dose of amoxycillin is for a child?

thank you!

Gee, what a hell. Where do you live?

Burrascano guidelines:
Amoxicillin
Children: 50 mg/kg/day divided into q8h doses

thanks

I have a wonderful pediatrician here in Israel (no, there is no "native" lyme around here) who is going to feel out of his league. Poor guy in his innocence can't understand though why an ID won't be helpful.

He will probably cooperate though with a specialist in the US who will communicate with him.

Just spoke with my kids schools. This is gonna be a fun year. I myself am having a good day if I can take a shower.

AM, so sorry to read all 3 kids are lyme positive too! so many positives.

Have you tried EUROLYME support group? left hand column...support group.

They might have an idea for you for a LLMD over there; perhaps closer than coming to USA! Just a thought.

Wow, expensive; I feel for you there too in the pocketbook. Bettyg [group hug] [kiss]

If the doctor is suggesting that IgM is the only thing that represents active infection - here's my question:

How many people does he treat that have Lyme? IgG and IgM tend to cycle in people with chronic Lyme and I disagree with the statement that the IgG person does not have active infection.

thank you

I have to make an appointment with the pediatrician today, haven't yet seen him, nor has he seen the results--his family practice associate has.

To her credit, she said she has no experience with lyme and we need to be seen by someone who does.

Pediatrician also has no experience, but in my opinion is one of the most open-to-being-educated-people on this planet.

He just will be reluctant to direct traffic in an unfamiliar zone, so to speak. Hence the suggestion to see an ID. He has no idea what the politics of lyme is in relation to the IDSA.

Am, I would start a herbal protocol with your kids while waiting to get proper help, if I were on your skin.

That's how I started herbs here in Switzerland (doctors kept saying there was nothing really wrong with me, except that I could have something else than lyme, like an immune disease, and also iron absorption problems, etc etc). But not lyme. So I got no treatment, and my health was getting worse.

Besides, amoxy only won't deal with tick co-infections (if I'm not mistaken, amoxy cures none of the commonest tick co-infections) and it still doesn't cross well the blood brain barrier.

I personally find it safer to do herbs when no clear diagnostic for co-infections exist (or herbs parallel to amoxy, but not amoxy only). My daughter started on amoxy, but improved much faster with herbs.

Just my own opinion. Hope in the meantime you'll find a good doctor for you and your kids there in Israel.
