I have been experiencing VERY strange symptoms for about six months..have had CAT scan and MRI on head, neck and spine..all came back ok..had bloodwork done..all came back fine..my symptoms come and go; not constant..they consist of pins and needles, extremities "falling asleep", tingling on tip of nose, some nausea, what feels like a sinus headache, recurring sinus infections, pain in hip, knee, ankle and thumb..arthritic pain..but the kicker is that most of this occurs ONLY on left side of my body..my PCP has started me on antibiotics for lyme..just not sure if thats what i have..have been taking antibiotics for about 2 weeks now..i need advice..i am a 29 year old female..very healthy b4 now

It sounds like you need to find yourself a physician who specializes in Lyme Disease also known as LLMD (lyme literate MD). I also had
most of my symptoms on my left side for about 5-6 months before I was diagnosed. I was diagnosed
last year with Lyme and treated, but this spring started having the symptoms you're experiencing.
Took me a long time to seek help because the symptoms would come and go and hit me in different areas of my body. I didn't think all
the symptoms came from one source. I also started with numbness and tingling in my foot and hand, then my face, muscle pain and then started
having arthritis type pain in my knees and elbows. My labs were all normal as well. Someone from this site gave me a name of a LLMD,
I was diagnosed and I started treatment. I'm not saying that you definitely have Lyme, but you have symptoms and need the specialist to either rule it out or treat you for it. Wish you the best.

thanks..its just nice to know that im not alone in the things im experiencing..if this IS lyme, then its a very scary thing..i've begun to think i have ALL KINDS OF terminal illnesses..and im pretty sure the docs think im nuts..anyway, thanks again

It is VERY common for early onset of this disease to be Asymetrical.
All my symptoms were on right side...at first.
It is very common to be thought of as a nutcase or hypocondriak by mainstream doctors.
Go to finding a doctor and post for info for one in your area...or PM someone like lymetoo TUTU and see what she can tell you.

Hi there! I'm sorry to hear about your trouble, but glad you found this site! The people here and just knowing there are people going through similar problems has helped me immensely.
You've probably considered this, but because the symptoms are only on one side of your body, have you had any sort of injury of the spine/neck? Something to search your memory about.
I agree that you should try to find an LLMD, and remember that there are people here for you!

And yes, it could be even without your knowledge of a tick bite. Something like 50% of people with lyme don't recall a tick bite or the tell-tale rash.

i have had spinal scan (MRI) that ruled out any injury or pinched nerve that could be causing the one-sided symptoms..my neurologist said that he's done all he can do..referred me to reumatologist but i thot that ANA bloodtest ruled that part out so who knows..im very confused...stumped..thats why im HERE

When you see the rheumatologist mention you suspect lyme disease...
He/she will undoubtedly get angry and throw you out of the checkup room!
Find out how to get an IGENEX western blot test specific for borelia burgdoferi spirochete and coinfections of babesia,bartonella,ehrlichiosis,EBV,herpes,cmv,h-pylori,HPV...
A comprehensive bacterial/viral/fungal blood panel if one exists should do the trick for the coinfections....even though those don't all show up either. However...at the least do the western blot thru IGENEX for lyme before you go to the rheumy....so you're forearmed.....

My symptoms were one sided in the beginning.
I thought I was dying of something and nobody was finding it.
I have had this for 12 + years and only got diagnosed a year ago.
I have had so many weird symptoms and thought I was going crazy until I found all these wonderful people.
We are not crazy, it is not in our head (sometimes it really is) we are sick people who want to get well.
When I am going crazy, I read the success stories and visualize that I will be writing my on success story

You asked a question saying could it be lyme if you don't remember a tick.
Even after I tested positive on my Igenex, the first thing I said to my LLMD is, "I don't even remember a tick".
He put a period on a piece of paper and said, "would you see that if it jumped on your head in your hair"?
So I too was one that had most all my symptoms on one side of my body and was misdiagnosed with blah blah blah, always followed up by, 'but something else is going on".
I just wish it hadn't taken me so long to seek a LLMD.
My MD sent me to so many specialists and yet I never even KNEW there were lyme specialists out there.
As the others have said....make an appointment with one. If nothing else, you can atleast get it ruled out, or you can get treatment from the LLMD if you do have it.
