Eric,

Are you still taking Mepron and Zith? If not, how long ago did you stop? It's very likely this is a herx from the Mepron and Zith.

How long ago did you stop the Art? I get a feeling it was weeks ago, am I right? If so, then my gut is that this isn't from the Art.

From the studies that were posted, it doesn't seem like you took a high enough dose and it seems like it gets out of the system pretty quickly.

What you describe sounds like it could be a migraine. Some people get migraines without headaches.

The twitching and sweating both can happen from Babesia. So that suggests a herx.

I know this can be frightening. But symptoms can get much worse before getting better. I had a lot of motor tics come out when I was on Zith. I also had insomnia for a while on Zith.

Nothing I go through with Lyme and coinfections is normal. You'll soon figure a new relative of normal in all of this.

Hi polar,

sorry that you are still feeling so awful sick.

Not a doctor but --

I do not think that you damaged your brain stem, because you would not be able to write these posts if you had. It may be a medication reaction.

Can someone help you to go an emergency room?
Or is there someone you can call to stay with you tonight?

I hope you try to get some rest tonight -- and keep us posted.

I'm guessing the head sweating is a herx-reaction from the babesia -- I had that a lot before I started treatment for babs.

As for the rest of it, I've had *all* those reactions during a bad herx (and before diagnosis, too)....lyme certainly affects the central nervous system quite a lot, and herxing can cause those symptoms to flare a great deal.

I'd certainly call your LLMD, but I thought you might feel reassured that I've been through something similar.

When I herxed from Ketek (rather similar to zith) I had a lot of scary neuro stuff, including feeling confused, word finding problems, etc.

Hope you feel better soon.

Hello Eric,

I would call your LLMD first thing in the morning to let them know what is going on. They may recommend stopping the meds for a lil bit until things let up a bit.

Ive had smilar things happen to me while on antibiotics.

I had very scary chest pressure, paralysis, and breathing problems.....i swear i thought i was dying. but when i stopped the antibiotics things got a lil better then i started back up again slowly.

Try to hang in there best that you can. Drink water and get lots of rest.

Hang in there!

Hey polar,

I hope you got some sleep and called your LLMD. I am concerned about you. With lyme meningitis I had most of your same symptoms.

Check in with us to let us know how you are doing.

(((Hugs)))

Thanks for checking in, Eric.

I wish you had someone who could stay with you when the going is rough! I hope you did not have too bad a time with the ducks in the ER; it wouldn't be surprising to find that most of them haven't got a clue about lyme and haven't even heard of babesia.

I hope you are going to get in touch with your LLMD today and get his advice about how to continue because I really want you to get rid of this stuff and come out the other side. Let us know what he says, okay?

And don't be afraid to use a sick day!!

eric,

I'm wondering if you are in a cycle of really scary symptoms and anxiety that make the symtpoms worse.

I am not saying it's in your head. But maybe the reason you slept well at the ER was that you were relaxed, because you knew you were being monitored.

I have asthma, and there is a huge emotional impact on the attacks. If I start to worry about not being able to breathe, then my asthma gets worse. It's all real, but controlling the anxiety can help control the asthma.

Now Lyme can cause anxiety. I also know that a herx on Zith can cause anxiety, which I think you are taking. Plus, the symptoms you have and the stress of Lyme, etc. alone can cause anxiety.

You may want to talk to your LLMD about this. Maybe helping to control anxiety, through either medication, therapy or relaxation techniques, will help you through this time.

I hope you at least got good rest last night at the hospital.

Hi Polar,

Hope you are feeling a little better.

My daughter has the racing heart problem.

She got diagnosed with POTS. A severe problem with blood pressure. Not enough blood getting to tissues can cause adrenal glands to kick into
overdrive which causes the heart to pump faster.

POTS causes depression, insomnia, and stomach problems, also dizziness. Very pale.

The doctors missed the signs in my daughter and we thought all the above were from the lyme.

She is much recovered with getting this diagnosed and treated.

An idea for you is to interview cardiologists and find one that specializes in POTS and believes in lyme. Actually the POTS can be easily treated, I imagine, whether the dr is totally up with lyme as the tests are objective.

The dr. pushed upwards on her trunk and asked her if she felt more clear minded and she did because of getting some blood flow to the brain.

She said yes immediately, which is amazing. Then he asked, "Do you feel happy?" She couldn't tell because he was pressing so hard it hurt some.

Anyway, just trying to think what might help you out.

Best Wishes,
Char
