It seems as if I take one step forward and then 10 steps back.

Cleared minocycline from system after significant vertigo/nausea, etc. on Friday.

LLMD felt this was a major herx and to stop for a while. Also had little bumps that itched while I was on it.

LLMD believes as I had been on doxy for 40 days prior to minocycline that it is not an allergic reaction.

Taking malorone 250/100. Told to restart at one pill last night.

Here comes the itching everywhere as well as the little bumps. Benadryl helps with the itching.

Also increased air-hunger today, but no vertigo.

I searched topics for itching and saw a common thread of yeast, but my fear is that I may be allergic to meds.

I just started babesia tx. Was excited to be doing something. I almost feel like a failure as obviously something is wrong when I take these meds.

Any advice is welcome. Oh, and I do have Diflucan at home, but I am almost scared to take anything.

Thanks,
Geneal

It sounds to me like a allergic reaction to the meds rather then the yeast.

I'd call doc - and maybe it might be a good idea to back off all of the things your taking for a couple of days and then try one at a time for a few days and see.

In the meantime take the benadryl.

I experience itching mainly in my scalp and sometimes on other parts of my body when herxing. I wish I could tell you that I know what exactly it is about... But I have heard of others reporting itchy crawling sensations.

Still, it is probably important to rule out an allergic reaction. Are not hives similar to bumps, which is an allergic reaction? Maybe your doctor can shed light on this.

Sorry I can't provide much more about this. It is definitely not comfortable. [shake]

Thanks for the replies. It is so frustrating to not know what or why is making me itch.

I will call the LLMD tomarrow....Hope there may be medicinal alternatives for babs or to see if he thinks this is a herx.

Thanks again.

Thanks. The good news is that my LLMD is an allergist. Will call this am to see what to do.

I can not have vertigo as a side effect as I have a 3 year old and a five year old.

Thank god my husband was home when I could not walk.

I have the itchy, bumpy stuff every once in a while. Did the dermatologist thing (he suggested spider bite!)

I have gone off and on my meds, which does help it clear up, but it's not really an allergic reaction, just a build up that causes the dermatitis (yes, that's all it is) to act up.

My SIL also went to a dermatologist for something very similar - she's not on any meds - and he told her to use Cetaphil. An OTC ointment that helps retain moisture in the skin. Wash with it and rub it on after you wash. It has helped me some. I also take Attarax, instead of benadryl, when the itching get to driving me nuts.

Itching has always been a sign of yeast for me, especially on the bottom of my feet and hands. Not sure if it is for you, but if you increase your acidophilus and yeast fighting herbs see if it gets better, then its yeast. If it doesn't then its probably an allergic reaction.

I take:
Pau D' Arco
Oil Of Oregano
Coconut Oil or Caprylic Acid
Grapefruit Seed Extract
Garlic
Refrigerated Acidophilus 50 Billion or more daily

Good Luck,
Lisi

Another possibility is mold or food allergies. I had a different rash from you soon a few months into abx tx. It turns out that it was a mold rash. Now that I've eliminated moldy foods I don't get the rash. When I do eat moldy foods, the rash comes back within a day.

My $0.02.

Geneal,

this is in the newbie links/advise I sent you others:

RASH ITCHES -- use CORN STARCH or ``rubbing alcohol`` on it especially the corners good. Hubby suggested; worked great for me; rash cleared up in 2 days vs. weeks/month.

Many soak in CORN STARCH and it's really helped them and AFFORDABLE! [Big Grin]
