So I have been off rocephin since last tue when an ultra sound found gall stones.

I was having mild pain under my right rib durning the lyme flares (three in three months since on rocephin)

Thanksgiving I had a full blown attack in front of the whole family, bent over in severe pain, sweating profusely, then as my husband was about to take me to the ER I ran in an vomited (nice holiday story).

This relieved the severe pain and I didn't go to ER.

Have gotten three more attacks since then right after breakfast each day. Today was a major doozy.

Last for about 45 min in fetal position.

Now I have apptmt with surgon today--friend of hubby.

I stay near the sofa, feel lousy all the time and am afraid that surgeon wont understand lyme and make me worse.

Other symptoms include major pelvic/abdominal pain, headache, lymph pain groin and underarm, neck/jaw/teeth, difficulty breathing, low energy, depression.

I so want to get into the holiday spirit right now but think I may be facing surgery...can anyone share their GB story with me?

Thanks [group hug]

Some of those symptoms sound a little scary to me. I'd be getting scanned every which way but up to make sure everything is OK, plus whatever diagnostic tests they do to ensure it's really your gallbladder.

When you have a line in, you should watch carefully for anything systemic. Have you had a blood draw lately? What does your LLMD say about all these symptoms?

Stand tall to the ducks -- if anyone can do it, I know YOU can! They'll be ashamed by the time you're done.

Sending you a hug, dear Human.

What Michelle said!

Also that sounds like the GB symptoms I've been complaining of only more severe. My pains are not the double over intensity. (More of the have to keep holding your side type with on and off surpise sharp pain... with constant dull thing going on)

I hope hubby's surgeon friend can help. I have an appointment with a surgeon for a consult second opinion tomorrow.

Give Tutu a shout she knows a lot about this. You could edit GB into your title and the gallbladder contingency will show up. There are lots with a lot of experience. I know, I've been buggging them for months.

One last thing, I know when my mom had her GB out it was done laproscopically and she bounced back really fast, a couple of days and she went to work. Which is what i;m trying to hold onto incase I have to or decide it's best to take this one out.

Let us know how it goes at the doc today. I hope you get some relief soon.

Thanks Michelle and true,

Doc says I have a lot of junk in my trunk so to speak...thick as mud stuff and prob stones too.

I am scheduled for laproscopic cholesystectomy WED!

He said my gb measures at 9cm and it should be 8...mine is very big and unruly.

He is calling my llmd but he says he doesn't want to wait cause he fears that a middle of the night attack may be coming soon and the longer you wait the worse the procedure gets.

So I will keep you informed but please say a prayer for me and my gall bladder...

Thanks!
Kim

You're very "lucky" to get scheduled for surgery that quickly. I would be sure to tell the surgeon that you need to be followed up with lots of antibiotics.

I had GB surgery after I was off abx for Lyme. They gave me one round of IV abx during surgery and that was it. Eleven days later I had a very serious hospital infection that required 6 days of hospitalization.

The surgery itself was a breeze....so my wish is for that to be the case for you too!!

hugs! [group hug]

Kim,

This sounds exactly like the attacks that I would have. This was before I knew about the lyme. It took me about a week to recover from surgery, which at the time I thought was strange, but it wasn't that bad.

No complications with my surgery and I have NEVER had any other pain/symptoms like I did before it came out. I did have a problem with digestion for a few months. I just had to make sure I was near a bathroom after meals...hehe

You'll do great and I am praying for you. Keep us updated!

hey [group hug] human [group hug]

Sorry to hear you are so sick. [Frown]

The only thing I would add is too make sure to talk to your surgon & ask him to make sure to check your bile duck for stones before closing you. Ditto on lymetoo. I would ask for abx .

Good luck on wednesday & will be praying for you.

Sending you healing thoughts & prayers [kiss]
Dana

ps: till then stay away from any thing greasy and or fats.

human,

Awful way to spend Thanksgiving. I really know what that pain is like!

For me, the critical point came when I turned yellow (after two attacks similar to yours). Eyes, skin...everything yellow! Surgery wasn't even debatable.

It was also fairly uneventful. I had laproscopic surgery, and despite some complications from the anaesthesia, there were no problems. I was back to work in a matter of days...and this happened when I was already Lyme sick but undiagnosed.

Since then, I haven't really missed by gb...and the only food problem I had was after having one of the richest dishes imaginable -- a lobster alfredo. it was great, but my body wasn't happy!

Hope everything goes smoothly!

Andie

Thinking calming gallbladder thoughts for you until Wednesday when I'll begin the gallbladder removal prayers.

I hope the procedure goes well and easy.

[group hug]

If it has to be done the sooner the better. Take care and eat boring foods until then.

Have you tried a liver/gallbladder flush to get rid of the stones? i would try that before I had it removed! Were you not on Actigall while on Rocephin?

Here is the link
