Also, look into mastic gum. Several people here have discussed it previously.

Dear Calilymer,
I don't know of herbal remedies, however there are some things you can do to try to minimize it.
Do not lay down flat for at least one hour after a meal.
Try to keep your head elevated when you do lay down.
Avoid foods/drinks that are likely to cause you reflux.
I had terrible reflux when I had pancreatitis. That is no fun!!
Hope you are feeling better soon.

Reflux is one of the symptoms of h-pylori bacteria in your gut...
PrevPac is a dual abx 14day treatment for this disease...(ammoxy and clarithro)with a little pepto thrown in...
It got rid of my heartburn/reflux...but not my wife's...
Good luck.....zman

I second the candida thing--when I had a really bad overgrowth was the only time I had reflux gastritis--it was awful!!
The minute i went on a candida diet and protocol I felt better and it never came back... Posted by WildCondor (Member # 434) on :
You might want to try DGL Deglycerized Licorice root, you chew the tabs and it coats the lining of the stomach. Carafate, and RX does the same thimg and both work very well. Avoiding dairy may help, eat small meals and dont lie down after eating!

HI Lymers,
I truly appreciate everyone on this site!
There is more medical knowledge here than at most University hospitals. Trust me, I've spent many moons at one.

I have also had problems with reflux lately.
The things that have helped me the most are: Carafate, prilosec(limited use only) Staying on a bland ucler diet, slippery elm powder.
ditto on: not laying down after meals & also small frequent meals do help. I also raised the head of my bed slightly.
hope this helps

My herbalist had me mix a couple of spoonfuls of slippery elm in water and dirnk/slurp it 2/day, once right before going to bed. It really helped heal my tummy from 5+ years of NSAIDs and pain meds.
