hi, i am an infusion rn. i actually put in picc line's myself.

try heat over the tender area.

Is the pain at the insertion site or around your armpit? if it is at the insertion site, just watch for increased redness. they will check you out on monday. if the pain is at the armpit, it is due to manipulation and the tenderness is due to vein inflamation.

use heat and try advil or motrin to help with the inflamation. this should be better by monday.

another thing move your arm, use it. this also helps with the vein tenderness.

if you start to run a fever or there is pussy drainageat the insertion site, you need to go to the er.

most picc lines go in easily but if you were tensed up, thre might be a little more tenderness. just know what is going on sounds normal. heard that before!LOL

welcome, and great advise! thanks for sharing.

rn, can you break this up into paragraphs for easier reading?

click on pencil icon and then break up, hitting enter key twice to leave one blank line between each paragraphs. click on edit send when done....big thanks! [Big Grin]

would you also copy your comments after breaking them up and PASTE them to reply in medical feature about the IV drug used to do this; i think others would find it very useful, and it won't get buried like your individual post here.

i found this at top of page 2 and many read 1st screen only. thanks for considering my request/suggestion on helping others with your invaluable experience! [group hug] [kiss]
