It took about 3 weeks to notice any improvement. My walking has improved, I didn't feel like I was going to die anymore, blood pressure has improved, pulse has slowed, and not as much pain.
The last three days I've been feeling a bit more pain, and it is moving all around. Every day it's a little worse than the day before. The back of my legs feel like ground meat, can't stand to sit on them. Every joint hurts, and every muscle.
I don't know if this is weather related (it's been kind of damp here), or if this is a herx.
I'm scared. I don't ever want to feel like I did before the IV. Don't know what to do. I'm afraid my doctor might want to try something else.
Should I stay on the Rocephin? Will this pass?

Hang in there, but call your LLMD. I think he may agree with me that this sounds like a herx. Most people have a major herx every 3-5 wks....so you're overdue!!
You might want to call and ask if your dr wants you to skip a day or two until the herx subsides.

I've heard many people on here say "it gets worse before it gets better." So hopefully this is just the ketes leaving you!
I second lymetoo's reply; call your LLMD.
Good luck, and try to keep your spirits high! Posted by caat (Member # 2321) on :
Have you checked for a systemic yeast infection? Are you on flucanazole as well? Yeast can do all of that plus nuerological symptoms. It's pretty common for people to get bad yeast with rocephin.
I would think that if it was a herx you would have had this happen a lot earlier in rocephin tx. Rocephin is pretty strong stuff.
If it's yeast you may notice small problems with the picc line or insertation site or whatever as well.
I hope you feel a bit better soon.

i definitely think it is a herx. you should call your MD. maybe skip a few doses, take a med holiday, change dosing. lots of optins ,but you definitely need to call MD.
i've been herxing almost continuously since starting abx in april. had tostop the rocephin. now on 125mg zithromax every other day. still having some herxing symptoms, but better,
good luck!

Believe me not necessarily so...
first time I was on rocephin it was almost three months before I started to herx.
I agree that unbearable herxes should be reported to your dr.
Best wishes

I was on Rocephin for 3 1/2 months and herxed on week 5. I had never had strong joint problems, just slightly achey knees.
When I herxed, the joints in my entire body took turns aching in sub-groups (ie: shoulder joints, then hips, then shins/ankles, then neck). The rotation continually amazed me.
I could deal with joint stuff, but when the myalgia/body aches got intense, I was miserable.
It was a constantly changing pattern.
Hang in there and definitely tell your LLMD if it gets too rough. I found that the neuro stuff cleared up a lot while the joints were aching. Didn't mind that trade-off!
