As seems to happen with many people who have stable improvememnt, I have not been posting much.

However, I can thankfully say that I am continuing to do well with no setbacks to date. My doctor continues my medication due to his experience of seeing few if any long-term lymies be able togo off of antibiotics without relapsing.

My illness went undiagnosed for twelve years, at least, and I was pretty sick. These days I have occasional days of mild malaise, achiness, and occasional dizziness. However, I have been able towork the entire time, and am gardening, building stuff, and working out.

I have been given a second chance at life and the people of Lymenet are due much of the credit.

Hang in folks, you can get better.

Hi David,

I am really glad to hear that you are well -- and I hope you keep getting stronger. Thanks for sharing your update.

I have had virtually untreated lyme for a little longer than you, and hope you will please answer a key question for me:

How does your GI tract handle all those years on antibiotics, even at low doses? I have been on abx for five months, and getting better that whole time, but have found in the last few weeks that I had to stop due to intestinal problems. Despite tons of probiotics of all types, and a very careful diet!

How have you done your four years of treatment and long-term abx? thanks for info. I cannot afford IV and hope there is a way to take orals longer-term than my body is allowing currently since they have helped me in just a few months to feel better --

best wishes,
Vermonter

Vermonter,

It probably helps to have a cast-iron gut. Iv'e ahd nausea only once in the last fifteen years and grew up in Latin America. Also, I have been taking Bicillin LA shots, which don't seem to cause such problems, along with Biaxin. Other than starting on Zithromax, which was switched to Biaxin a few months in, those are the only antibiotics I have taken.

My experience was that probiotics actually bothered me some and I stopped taking them and haven't for at least three years. I eat what I want and drink wine. It seems that I have been very fortunate in not having to abide by lifestyle restrictions.

Hope this helps. Feel free to PM if you have further questions.

glad to hear you're doing well! I've stabilized quite a bit too, but am doing a last (I hope) round for babesia.

Vermonter, I use flucanazole quite a bit for yeast infections. I've had several systemic yeast infections from antibiotics. It can really make your digestive tract raw. The other common thing is C. difficile which flagyl would take care of.

Hi David! That's so wonderful!!! Yippeeeee!!

After I was treated non-stop for 4 yrs, I was able to get off the abx and maintain with Rife now. It's such a joy being off the abx!

I encourage you to try going off sometime. [with DR approval, of course!] You may be surprised with how good you feel!

Keep on keepin' on! And thanks for coming back to tell us how you're doing!!

Hi David and caat --

Thanks very much for your replies, this is very helpful.

David, you have been fortunate and I wish we all had your cast iron gut! Thank you for sharing your encouraging news.

caat -- yes, my llmd thinks c.difficile may be the problem, or yeast. Tlucanazole seemed to help last week. Thank you for the information!
