Has anyone taken Plaquinil and then developed a bad sore throat and hoarseness that doesn't really go away?
I am on many different meds but the sore throat developed after an increase of Plaquinil so I'm not sure if they are related.
Thanks for any input.

I don't have the sore throat but I do have the hoarseness and a scratchy throat. I can't tell if it is the Plaquenil or the Lyme in general.
I sound like someone who has smoked for 50 years and I've never smoked.
You might want to get your throat looked at to make sure it isn't yeast (especially if you aren't taken any anti-yeast or anti-fungal meds.)

I've experienced this from a different med. What happens is 1) the med irritates the area, 2) our body tries to heal the area, 3) healing takes place by modifying the normal immune system response in that area, 4) this gives Bb a better chance to infect "permanently", and 5) the Bb cause inflammation, so the symptoms persist at the area.

Were you taking antiboptics?
People don't seem to realize that antibiotics can kill the friendly bacteria not only in your intestines- but it can kill the friendly bacteria in your eyes ears, nose, throat and lungs.
Therefore- it's much more likely that your sore throat is due to the disruption of your matural flora- this makes it easier for some other - non lyme related bug - giving you your sore throat.
HCQ (Plaquenil) has immunosuppressive qualities- thus it's an anti-inflammatory . It's not likely on it's own to disrupt your natural flora... BUT iIt will interact with some classes of abx so this is probably a scenario you should run by your Dr.
