Question to those who have come so far then due to two back-to-back surgeries have taken a heck of a step/leap back. I'll try to make this short....but

I was diagnosed finally in 2003 with lyme, erch, babs; but first symptom started around 1995 and by the time diagnosis was made, i didn't even know my name.

Thru many doctors and treatment protocols i got better, but not healthy.... however, since August, 2006 I found after 4 years the most wonderful LLMD.

He is one who treats lyme as well as looks beyond and works with underlying issues associated with long term use of abx, a completely depleted immune system, adrenal fatique, hormonal issues, vitamin and/or other deficiencies, detox, as well as food or allergy related causes that all accompany lyme, and it's co-infections.

So when I went to him, history taken, treatment decision was to 'fix the gut' and based on a GI panel, and other various tests, i was diagnosed with wheat allergies, iodine deficient, vitamin d high, candida....possibly other stuff...but what i'm gettting to is this...

We stopped abx and i began a gluten-free diet, started iodine supplements (which is still being adjusted due to thyroid) and lots of immune enhancing supplements and herbs, and probitics and nystastin...etc...

Began to feel better, alot better, but still was loosing alot of weight...

Then my appendix decided they wanted to come out in October (2006) and i belive (just my assumption) that when the surgeons did the larescopic surgery that blows your stomach up -- the hernia (small little tiny hernia that never bothered me) grew into a huge hernia that required another surgery 3 1/2 weeks (November, 2006)after appendix...

Ok, now today i had my LLMD visit and had to explain to him the many symptoms of babs that i thought either went into hiding or went away (hopeful thinking) were resurfacing...I explained this and that, etc. etc.

My weight has gone from 128 1 year ago to 115 when i went to him at my first visit and then to 103 in October and today at 98 lbs... i look like an anexeric mummy skeleton...

But again, that's not what i'm getting at...what i want to ask is I now today received additional immune enhancing herbs, supplements, protein drink and will have to start alinia and zithromax...alinia Mond/Tues and Fri and then zithromax Wed and Saturday....or vise a versa..

So, i'm scared again for the abx... Mepron and other abx never bothered me...I've never tried either of these thoough...

Can anyone tell me what to expect ? The doses are 2 alinia (500mg) 1 in am 1 in pm (for those days) and 2 zith (600mg) 1 in am 1 in pm (for the other days) with food... I will start out with just one a day on both since my body hasn't had any abx for 5 months and work up to his suggested dose, unless i can't handle, then i'm to call...

But what is 'handle' - 'herx' - what to expect..

I feel i was getting to the point where my yeast was getting under control, my energy slightly higher, my immune better... and now i'm going to go backwards....

Anyone ever take this combination ?

Sorry for the long post, there's probably more i could babble on about...any 'hands on' experiences with feeling better, doing better, then getting set back and starting over ????
And, the zith / alinia combo ?

Thanks,
Diane

Hi,

I'm not taking the meds you are about to take so I cannot comment on them.

However I know what it's like to practically start over.

I was making great progress my first year of treatment.

Then I had to go off everything for several months because Ketek damaged my liver.

I backslid - not all the way to the starting point - but a great deal.

In my case, it took a few months of one fairly gentle antibiotic to get me fairly stabilized again. However, I've had lots of setbacks since being back on treatment - Achilles Tendon problems from Levaquin, etc.

I am not saying any of this to discourage you. I just feel that I've never gotten quite back on track.

Personally, I think in all the time that's elapsed, my coinfections have gotten worse and that has made things tougher. I also seem to be more chemically sensitive - probably due to the diseases having proliferated.

I will say that going gluten-free can be wonderfully beneficial. I went gluten-free a couple of months before the tick bite.

But years ago, I had issues with leaky gut, candida, etc.

Despite how sick I am now with tick-borne diseases, my latest intestinal permeability (leaky gut) test is normal, my last bone density test was better than women younger than me - both I attribute to being gluten-free.

Hang in there. I'm on a similar path as yours!!

Jill

When I did Alinia, I did 1000mg twice daily for 20 days.

It sounds like your new LLMD has things under control in terms of looking beyond just the Lyme bugs. Very good!

I'd be sure you screen for parasites and metals as well. Use EAV or energetic testing for parasites. It is often the only way.

Sometimes chlorella can help minimize a herx as well. I take it often.
