Jif,

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, that was quite a find. I was one of the many here that was diagnosed with fibromyalgia.

Perhaps instead of these new drugs, they should do a Igenex test and some antibiotics and see what happens to the fibro first before looking for band aids.

Grrrrrrrrrr....but thanks for finding the article.

Thanks, jif, you did it perfectly! [Smile]

I just knew it! I'd suspected that a portion of this denial of chronic Lyme disease was about major pharmaceutical companies wanting to make big $$$ off of our "mysterious" symptoms. Then I saw Lyrica come onto the market, and now this.

Antibiotics, often available as generics, would be so much cheaper.

Then this at the end of the article got me...

quote:
"I think that some physicians do believe that fibromyalgia isn't a real condition, and our job to spread the word that there are objective findings that these people are in pain," Harris said.

But Dr. Scott Zashin, a rheumatologist in private practice in Dallas, says fibromyalgia is one of the more common conditions he sees.

Zashin says he usually tries to get fibromyalgia patients to exercise more or get more rest before turning to medication.

"These patients seem to have an increased sensitivity to pain," Zashin said. "Something in their makeup makes them experience pain differently."

ROFLMAO! Let him talk to the avid sports people on this board and others who have been brought low by Lyme and other auto-immune conditions. As a dancer, I was used to pain every day for over 25 years. I'd "worked through" sprains, strains, aching muscles, and broken bones. I'd say my pain tolerance is fairly high.

To dismiss us as "sensitive" makes me think a guy like that shouldn't be in the rheumatology business.

Regards,
Shaz

Drug em up, shut em up

We would become a nation of zombies by believing stuff like that.

It is frightening.
