Hi everyone, I'm needing some advise on what to do. I've been diagnosed with the following things:
restless leg syndrome chronic sinus infections asthma allergies to food and environment atrial tachycardia (my heart beats too fast) sleep apnea ulcerative colitis fibromyalgia acid reflux and hiatal hernia tmj charot marie tooth disease (neurological) migraines lyme disease vertigo hormonal imbalance too thick of blood There are 2 more but I can't remeber what they are right now.
I am taking 22 different prescriptions and have recently been prescribed 8 more bringing the total up to 30. I need some advice on what to do. I'm not a pill popping kind of person but I got really sick a couple years a go (spent 5 weeks in the hospital) and that's when all the medications started piling up. I'm afraid to go off any of them becasue I don't want to ever be that sick again but I'm wondering what all this is doing to my body. The last 8 medications have been prescribed to me by my Lyme doctor. I wish that I could go off all my meds except for what he prescribes. Does anyone have any advice? I feel like I'm paralyzed with fear and anziety. I'm feeling desperate. Sandy

Sandy,
Most of the conditions you posted as being diagnosed with are actually symptoms of Lyme or other co-infections.
I would suggest you go over the list of diagnoses with your LLMD. Have your LLMD tell you which ones are likely from Lyme, based on the symptom itself and when it started. I would guess most.
You can also go over all the meds with your LLMD. Tell they doctor why you take each med and when you started taking it, and have your LLMD recommend which ones to try to wean off of.
And don't stop more than one drug at a time. That way you can follow cause and effect.

I can only tell you what my old doctor said to me. She said it was one of the things she learned in medical school.
Something along the lines of..
"It makes more sense to have 1 or 2 things causing several symptoms than it is to have 12-15 different things causing each"
I was in the same situation you are and it was aweful. I couldn't understand how I could have everything under the sun.
Each required different meds too.
I can tell you that the Lyme and the FM alone can give you symptoms for almost every thing you listed.
And, for me at least, they think the FM was brought on at such an early age because of the untreated Lyme.
When I was first on treatment for Lyme, many of those things got better. I also cleaned up my diet and tried to get rid of the large amount of unhealthy yeast in my system.
I would honestly say it is "more than likely" the Lyme giving you all those symptoms.

I agree with the others. Treating the Lyme likely will positively impact many of the other conditions. 22 chemical drugs is likely not going to help you get well.

been there, done that .. i know excactly what you're feeling here.
last year up to 20 RX meds; then 2nd llmd put me on 22 supplementals including 4 more RX comounded meds
make sure your pharmacy has ALL MEDS/SUPPLEMENTS/OTC meds you are taking.
ask them to run a side effects of meds working against each other; it's available online too.
try looking in TREEPATROL'S NEWBIE LINKS; found at the top of medical, page 1. Posted by johnlyme1 (Member # 7343) on :
I agree with the others also but only one other comment on the blood thickness issues. Also discuss with your LLMD if enzymes for blood thinkness can be used. Like using Nattokinase. I have had some big blood thickness issues and once addressing with natural enzymes I noticed a change within 1 week of being on them.

I agree. Your list sounds like mine used to be prior to lyme treatment.
Hang in there and stick with your lyme treatment. It is the most important thing.
