My llmd tonight says technically i have this.

Very very high AM and PM cortisol..like triple what they should be :-(

He ordered MRI of adrenals and pituitary. and ACTH levles

he said I am not presenting with typical symptoms,

but many of my symptoms could be caused by cushings...like the thirst, no periods, yeast infections....

Im kinda scared about this as i have been gaining weight in my stomach.

I also was reading that oddly Nazarol is used as a treatment (i took that for about two months for yeast)

I feel like im doomed.........one thing after another after another. [Frown]

i had a dog who had lyme a lot in his 7 yrs. he ended up with cushings, diabedes and a bunch of other stuff. i haven't heard of people getting it. but horses and people have the same eye problems with lyme. who know. good luck. for dogs there is treatment-but it is tricky.

I was tested for this, I will let you know the results when I get them.

I have Cushions symptoms, I read about them, however I had these symptoms go away when I was first treated for lyme 3 years ago.

I went off antibiotics to treat with natural things, but got worse, and now back on them for about 15 months, but still not better.

Let me know what they are going to treat you with for this, or if it is a tumour of the adrenal or something else.

I hope you are ok.

PS, my stomach is big too, normally I have a flat stomach, very flat, so for it to be so big, with a couple rolls is not right.

I will let you know.

Just happened to see Marnie's post (link below) regarding high cortisone levels and what increases and decreases it.

Not sure if this will help, but decided to post it anyway, just in case.

Thanks for your help,

What Marnie wrote does make sense....my hormones are really messed up, so I may be very high in estrogen.

I just wish more dr knew what infections could do to a person, and just hope that they find the source of mine [Eek!]

Hi Can't

I'm sorry to hear your cushings diagnosis.

I have not tried this personally, but I do know it does not have negative consequences, so no harm in trying it.

When a horse has cushings, feeding them chasteberries seems to resolve the symptoms.
1 tsp crushed chasteberries (grinding whole dried berries works) a day and the average horse weighs 1,000 lbs. I assume you are smaller than this. [Wink]

Hi. luvs2ride!

Where can you find dried chasteberries?

I tried a 'search' but only found the pill and liquid form.

TIA. [Smile]

Hi,
I have a Mini mare with Cushings (brought on by having gotten steriods when she had a hip locked baby that paralyzed her obturator nerves).

I gave her ground chateberries for about 4 months and she improved. I also gave her APF by Auburn Labs which is good for insulin resistance which goes along with the Cushings. You can get that from Valley Vet Supply. It's human grade.

She is not cured and will be going back on the regimine for maintenance but it proved that it does work.

I got the Chasteberries from a health food store and ground them in a coffee grinder. Beware of allergic reactions though.

I tried them and had an immediate cough/closed throat reaction so I believe I am allergic.

Sickandtired gave the answer to where to buy the chasteberries. Also she brought up a good point I was unaware of, possible allergic reaction.

Good luck. If you try the chasteberries, post and let us know how it worked for you.

I just saw a woman diagnosed with Cushings on the TV show Mystery Diagnoses. Along with weight gain in the stomach area, she developed a fatty "hump" on the back of her neck. There were other symptoms which I now can't remember.

I am somewhat familier with Cushings in horses and they too get enlarged bellies and "cresty" (fat deposits) necks.

There are treatments for Cushings in people and this woman was leading a normal life after about 8 yrs. of going from dr. to dr. without a diagnoses.

I finally decided to go to an internist because after four years, I am sicker than ever. I have gained 70 pounds with no effort. I gained the first 30 within a matter of months. I found a doctor who really listened to me for the first time. He said, put the Lyme behind you because you must have other things going on to make you this sick.

He is sending me to neurologist, gyno, doing 24 hour urine testing, other blood work and seeing another infectious disease doctor.

He said I may have Cushings. First I every heard of it, but when I looked it up, I was amazed that I wasn't tested before. I have every symptom, even the hump on the back!

I have been extremely depressed and felt like I was on the verge of a nervous breakdown several times. I went to a psychopharmacologist and am taking meds that help me stay on planet earth. Anyone else ever get results?

I saw an Internist Dec 2006, still working with him, and LLMD. and have had MANY many tests doneby Internist. I researched all the tests he wanted done and could not believe how

they fit me.

ONE came back positive, and that was high cortisol, so he said he wanted to check for Cushionings Syndrome, and so he did a Dexamethasomne suppression test. I had this

come back negative, so he said no MRI.
NO cushionings either. I dont know what is causing high cortisol, but others had this with lyme.

I then had my heart ultrasound and see him for the results on Wed, this week and breathing test.

I am ill too, have done 19 months of antibiotics straight, and before this, 7 months, then stopped for 3 months, then did another 8 months.
I got somewhat better, then worse then little better

then worse. I am not well, but not dead, so keep at it. maybe good to be dead? somedays.
My mind, where did it go, this disease is a BEAST and if anything is going to drive me insane

it is looking and looking.

I am still sick too, and have had the nervous breakdown feeling before, and this has been LYME for me, the Biaxin and flagyl took this feeling away completly.

I actually cried because I felt so good when I first started treatment, I was thinking ...

OH MY! what a dream, I feel so relaxed.

I now cant get that back. I am worse, and is it because I need IV? I dont know.

Maybe bartonella?

I dont know,

Hope all goes well. I also saw an Infectious Disease Dr, was tested for some infections he thought i may have picked up travelling years ago, nothing showed.

I am still looking, hope you get some help.
I have gained 60lbs, and my boobs have gone from a B cup to a EE, or a DDD. My *** is about the size of a swimming pool, and my mind is the size of a dime, my hair is like a hay stack, my skin is like a prune, my legs, well we

wont go there, I have some spirit left,
that is about it.

BUT, I am aiming to get it back, shrink the *** ,
shine the hair, and get the mind back to the size of a loonie.

Before all these antibiotics, I was slim, and my hair was thicker, and I was in shape, now,
I have fallen apart.

I just cannot believe when I look in the mirror what i see, I look like a moose, and it is so sad, because I want to desperately to get on that jogger and get that body back, aand to

get back to work, put on those clothes, that have style, but I cant, but I hope, it will get there one day.
