I'm having a hard time starting this drug because of these concerns.
A blood test shows that my blood is too thick. Is that common for those of us who have Lyme?

It worked great for me! Yes, the shots can be painful. Not as bad as you might think, however. You could take the oral troches. They are more expensive than the shots.
Hypercoagulation is common with Lyme, but most drs don't test for it.
The heparin helps with pain, brain fog, and fatigue. It also helps get the abx deeper into the tissues, because if your blood is too thick, the meds can't get in very well.
Take a leap of faith and try it!!!

The shots don't hurt badly at all. However, I got major bruises and internal minor bleeds that are still visible months after stopping. It can leave permanent scars/bruises. Also, the places I used to inject are still sore when pushing months after stopping.
I also had a major endocrine system and cholestrol meltdown that was serious and returned to normal upon stopping. I cannot say with scientific certainty that it was the heparin, but I personally would not use it again without closely monitoring hormones.
It did little for me, but I know that some have been helped by it.
My preference by far is Rechts-Regulat.

I was in the hospital for 11 days with a blood clot and had a IV "bag" of Hep every 12 hours, I also have Babs. I am also on Comadin for the clot, and Comadin is a blood thinner.
After all that Hep I don't feel any different.

12 days of heparin would not be the same thing as months or years of it. Coumadin thins the blood but does not reduce the fibrinogen, which is why patients are put on heparin.

Hi Lymetoo, Don't know too much about the Hep, but I just assumed that the Hep I was getting, in such huge amounts would make some difference. Don't know whether or not the clot was from the Lyme or my PICC line. Was hoping the Coum, would help out it some way. That blows my theory to the wind !!! Thanx

Hi Sandy,
I took Heparin for over a year with very little difficulty.
I use to inject the needle lower on the stomach - I would pinch up a bit of skin and then stick the needle in.
The secret to it not hurting is to inject it slowly. I worked all around the lower stomach area. I only tried the leg once and it hurt for weeks!

Also, someone talked about doing orial Heprian. Does that work as well?
My PCP doctor said that they don't use Heprian on someone unless they are hospitaliszed. This scared me.

Most PCP's are uninformed. That's why we call them ducks.
The dosage used in blood clot therapy is very high and would be somewhat dangerous. [though it IS monitored closely]
What is used in hypercoagulation therapy is much lower in dosage and IT is monitored closely.
The oral version is not supposed to be as effective, but it worked very well for me. I had to change to it because I reacted to a preservative in the injectable kind.

Go read on Scott's site about the Rechts.
You can also take nattokinase or lumbrokinase, which is what I am taking now.

RR is a German enzyme drink. When I decided to no longer do heparin, I went back to this product and continue to use it. It is mentioned on the My Treatment page of my site - url below. Be well.

I haven't done Heparin, but would like to chime in with Scott here -- the Rechts Regulat has been phenomenal in alleviating my hypercoagulation.
The way I knew is that usually every month when I get the blood draw my blood is black and sludgy. After starting the RR, my blood is now red and vibrant and much less like glue than before.
RR is one of the few things that my body does not react to or herx from in any way, which is an added bonus.

HA! Isn't the RR amazing for blood color. Literally within days it changes to bright red.
