anyone with experience with zithromaz for LD? Currently on Doxy & Alinia. thinking of asking LLMD about switching the doxy to zithro.

cannot take penecillin or cephlasporines b/c allergic to them. Anyone with knowledge/experience with zithro, i would appreciate your insight.

I just started treatment one month ago, and I'm taking Zithromax... 1000mg which is too much. I had to drop it some.
It's working for me, because I feel like I'm dieing, literally. I think I should be in a hospital.

But the good moments, are better than the good moments used to be prior to treatment, which leads me to believing the herx thing(as most who have Lyme believe) is true.
And I also, feel so much sicker than before antibiotics with new symptoms...

From what I understand though, different strains of Lyme will take different antibiotics, so what was good for me, may be different for you.

Also, Artemisiea seemed to help me a lot, but the doctor thought I had Babesia even though I tested negative. It killed me also... bad. But has gotten much better after 3-4 weeks of taking it.

I'm new here but have lots of exerperience with Zithromax. I took it for about 8 years not even knowing I had borrelia, but knowing it worked for me. I thought all I had was mycoplasma incognitus. Turns out I had borrelia, mycoplasma and probably babesia.

Anyway I always do great on Zithromax, usually at 500 mg a day but can reduce to 250 mg every other day once I get better. I don't have a cure but it does seem to help a lot.

I did great with it after having lots of side effects on doxycycline, but eventually the azithromycin made me very tired. As soon as I stopped taking it, the tiredness went away. It's listed as a potential side effect if you look hard enough on the internet, so I'm pretty sure that's what the sleepiness was about towards the end of my antibiotic regimen.

There are a couple of us here in WI that have been using alinia with other ABX for treatment. Don't discount the alinia to quickly.

It has anti-protozoa parisitic properties. It can be easier than taking flagyl.

I plan on going back to doxy and alinia in about a week for my herx cycle.

Zith can be a good ABX but I like how doxy gets into the CNS, zith helps me with my inter muscular stuff but doxy clears out my head.

I have one friend who has been in treatment over 16 months and is now on alinia and doxy and is herxing quite a bit again.

Time will tell if the Alinia will work for you. It has been usefull to a couple of us here in WI

I don't have experiences with Zithro but my sons and other family members do. From what they have said they don't herx as badly from the zithro as the doxy and mino.

But they all were on low doses. And zithro is very tough on the liver, so be careful.

Thakns to all for your replys. I appreciate them.

JohnnyLyme, I will continue on the Alinia. My LLMD & my pharmicist both say it has a chemical composition very similar to tindimax & is easier to take. I have taken flagyl b/f & LLMD switched me to Alinia.

He believes it is a cyst buster and an anti protozoal drug. I take 500 mg once a day (versus 2x a day on Flagyl).

Interesting on the alinia.

I see it is used to kill parasites in the gut for people with chronic diarrhea. I have chronic diarrhea. I'll see if Dr. J will prescribe this to me.

I will be having my first time appointment soon.
