form of Bb in the body as opposed to spirochetes?

Does anyone have reference to such a paper? I read about it on another board and would like to get a copy if possible. No one there seems to have the actual paper.

Thanks.

Psano, not sure what you are asking for.

Is this about the method Bowen uses to test for Lyme (L-form and possible cyst forms), or something else?

Do you have a little more information?

Tracy,

Here's a link to the thread on the Lyme and Rife group that referenced the work by Bowen. No one on that site has been able to give me any specific reference.

http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/Lyme-and-rife/message/32697

"The immune system doesn't kill all the Lyme cysts, but it does kill some. Some white blood cells attack and seem to succeed in killing the cysts. People do get a herx when doing anything that boosts the immune system, such as taking olive leaf extract, garlic, other vitamins, or nutritious drinks. I don't think we need to worry about driving the Lyme bacteria into the cyst form, because most of them are probably already in that form. The Bowen lab has found that most patients, even those with recent tick bites, have msotly cycsts rather than spirochetes in their blood. The bacteria convert into cysts fairly early."

I'd love it if someone could help dig up this reference.

Psano, I can't find anything on this either.

It may have been an "off the record" statement from someone at Bowen.

I have a sneaking suspicion that we all have a lot more cysts and L-forms of Lyme in our bodies than spirochetes. And that even goes for people who have not been on abx or anything to cause more cysts.

I'm sorry I couldn't help you find anything because I would like to see it, too!

In the book "Chronic Fatigue, Fibromyalgia & Lyme Disease" second edition by Burton Goldberg and Larry Trivieri, Jr., page 394
"We have examined blood samples from over 800 patients whose Lyme Disease was clinically diagnosed with the RIBb test and we have rarely seen Bb in anything but the cell wall deficient (CWD) form." Dr. Whitaker reports.

Below is a study you may find interesting. Just this past year Dr. Alan MacDonald, Ph.D. did a research study on the 'Life Cycle of Borrelia Spirochete'. You maybe able to pull it up if you go to: www.google.com and type in the title in search.

A Rapid Method for Generating Cystic Forms of Borrelia burgdorferi, and Their Reversal to Mobile Spirochetes

Date of Publication: December, 1998
Source: APMIS, 106(12):1131-1141
Authors: (1) Brorson O; (2) Brorson S.
Institution: (1) Department of Microbiology, Vestfold Sentralsykehus, Tonsberg (2) Department of Pathology, Ulleval Hospital, Oslo, Norway

Abstract

Mobile Borrelia burgdorferi were transferred to distilled water (106 per ml). The cultures were observed by dark field microscopy (DFM), interference contrast microscopy (ICM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). 95% of the spirochetes were converted to cysts after 1 min, and after 4 h no normal mobile borreliae were observed.

When transferred to growth medium (BSK-H), the cysts became smaller and more irregular, and were filled with organic substances. After 1 day, 1-5 thin structures sprouted from the cysts. They continued to grow in both length and thickness until they attained a normal spirochetal structure.

Finally, these new-born spirochetes detached from the cysts, by which time their mobility had become normal. The present method for producing large amounts of cystic forms of B. burgdorferi is well suited for further studies of this unique microbe.

Quotation From The Full-Text Article
"...cystic forms may occur in the human organism (11,14,15), and they may explain the long periods of latency, resistance to antibiotics, negative serological results (3-7,10,12,13,28), and low PCR sensitivity (5,8,10). (p.1139)"

There must be some ketes if we are herxing after taking new abx. (Non-cyst busters-type abx)

Without a doubt, we have ketes as well as cysts. However, if the cysts outnumber the ketes, that would suggest that our therapy should have regular use of a cyst buster.

I'm in the process of sending some salient scientific articles to some of my past mds, and if I find a good article on cysts, then I might include it in the packet I'm sending out.

Thanks for everyone's responses.

I would like to know if there are any studies that show these results in a human.

Somedays I feel like a lab rat.
